| Psychopath Registered: Sep. 00  | That was no broken collar bone. At least with a break, or the alligator bite that Opie swore (truthfully) would not happen. Burns are so bad- the treatments are worse than the original injury-There is no luxury of anesthesia and then recovering from surgery. Scrubs, graphs, the pain of nerves slowly coming back to life. It's horrible! That was so much worse than watching an alligator attack! | ||||

I had my shirt sleeve catch on fire when I was younger, burnt the shit out of my arm, skin was hanging off and shit, it was nasty. Didn't hurt too bad when it happened, but it took forever to heal, and I still have somewhat of a scar, 16 years later. Fire, is a motherfucker.

| Psychopath Registered: Sep. 00 | If they had been there to film it, then they could have pulled him off the fire! He was by himself when it happened. Burns really do suck. I got to thinking, because I have a great respect and fear of fire. The worst ways I can imagine getting killed involve the 4 elements- Earth- being buried alive, very bad. Water- drowning- bad again! Fire- my biggest fear. Air- suffocation- bad again. Not that dying offers many good options, but to me, those would involve the greatest amount of fear at the final moments. | ||||

| Psychopath Registered: Sep. 00 | OK- he was just on the Early Morning Show- when he passed out he fell face first into the fire. Because the day was so hot, he had a wide brimmed hat on and sunglasses, which saved him from- well just imagine what 10 seconds of submerging your face in fire will do. The first thing he remembers is running for the water- the shallow water was really warm (hot day) and it made it feel worse which is why he went into the deep water. He was trying to think how he was going to continue- gloves, etc, but then he kept looking at his hands. Long story (already) short, he was flown to a really good hosp. 1 1/2 hours away- the head surgeon took one look at his hands, now 4 times their original size- just huge open blisters, and said that they couldn't do anything with him. He was then flown another 3 1/2 hours to Brisbane to the burn trauma unit. It took him two days to realize that there was no way he was going to be able to go back. The end. Oh, and the show's creator said that if video exists of the accident it will never surface- showing the hands once got the point across. | ||||

Then, while I am throwing a fucking fit, she seys "don't worry, you did'nt miss anything, the bald guy got burnt and they just showed some high lites". Wha wha what! After successful surgery, Mike has returned home safely and has regained the full use of both of his hands. He later stated, "My experience in the Outback was absolutely incredible. Actually, it was the most positive thing to ever happen in my life." Mike's only regret was that he couldn't survive longer on the land he had grown to love. | ||||
