| O&A Board Regular Registered: Oct. 00  | By DAVID HINCKLEY Daily News Staff Writer ith the reshuffling of its lineup now official, WNEW (102.7 FM) still lacks one critical component: a popular morning show. As anticipated, WNEW has moved Don and Mike to 10 a.m.-3 p.m., where they can be heard live. After the Opie and Anthony franchise, 3-7 p.m., Ron and Fez come in 7-11 p.m. "Loveline" runs 11 p.m.-3 a.m. Lesley Gold is gone, meaning WNEW's talk lineup now reflects the people it wants listening: young guys. This "hot talk" format makes money, and parent Infinity likes it so well, it recently placed the format on stations in several other cities. But if WNEW is going to climb out of 22nd place overall among New York stations, it needs a morning show that averages more than the 0.7% of the audience held by the Sports Guys (tying them for 27th place with WMCA, WLIB and WBBR). The problem is that Infinity doesn't want a morning show on 'NEW that's going to poach listeners from Howard Stern on sister station WXRK. So the Sports Guys survived this recent shuffle — and for the record, program director Jeremy Coleman has said he's confident they can build an audience. | ||||

He knows he can't do anything about the Sports Guys as long as Howard is the chosen morning act for the company, so he says the thing that won't hurt anyone's feelings. | O&A Board Regular Registered: Aug. 01 | Come on.......The only thing the daytime lineup is missing is a show in the time slot other than 3 to 7. The Sports guys flat out suck. They know nothing about sports but yet they hold onto sports as the basis of the show. Don and Mike flat out suck. We get entertained from 3 to 7. Too bad for Ron and Fez who do a good show and entertained me in the afternoons. blech. | ||||

| O&A Board Regular Registered: Mar. 01 | Radio Chick getting fired was 1 good move, but Jeremy and Ken and all them have 3 more cuts to make (just incase you don't know, Sports Guys, Don and Mike, Ron and Fez) Then, and only then, will the station be able to grow and maybe have a chance at being successful. King Hooknose has a no-compete clause, so whatever they put on in the morning, it can't be anything like him - and they won't put something on that doesn't fit the current style of the station ("extreme talk"). The Sports Guys are doing exactly what WNEW wants to be done in the morning - they have some solid, faithful listeners, and they have the potential to be better. | O&A Board Regular Registered: Oct. 00 | the sports guys arn't all that bad... they do suck sometimes but who doesn't & a .7 rating for that slot is a huge jump from the .1 or .2 that was previously there.... the only other thing wrong with the station is don 7 mike plain & simple THEY SUCK... i think it explains it well enough... chick was cool but she will not really be missed except for the fact of don & mike in her spot... | Psychopath Registered: Mar. 02 | I listen outside of NY so I dont know the programming that well, but I thought that farell was getting good ratings in the morning slot. Hes definantly funny enough but i've never heard him live, so I really wouldn't know. | ||||
