| Psychopath Registered: May. 01  | I was thinking about this today - One of my friends used to make video tapes of nfl games to send to his brother during the gulf war. What do you guys think of clipping together a 'best of' CD every/week/month/ whatever and sending them to our fellow O&A listeners who are fighting for our country? You see, I don't really have time to record and encode the whole show, then edit a weeks worth of bits then burn a bunch of CDs then mail them. I figured everyone could to a little bit, but I guess some of us are too busy sitting in front of the computer waiting for some loser to email him a picture of his wife's saggy boobs in hopes of getting access to kiddie porn. Yee haa. I guess no matter what happens in the world, some people are just selfish dicks. Those of you who aren't, email me. I was hoping one person would step up and record the bits and someone else would maybe edit them, and another burning, and another preparing the mailers. I had planned on doing some of it, just not all of it. Its not like I'm saying "cut these shows together for ME", its for the people that are prepared to give their lives for our freedom, and are stuck on military bases and in filthy desert countries. | Psychopath Registered: Nov. 00 | That's it....I have HAD ENOUGH! I realize that I will probably come off horribly, but I really need to say this. I feel horribly for the NYPD & the FDNY. I volunteered more than a few hours recently to fund raise for them. BUT, as horrific as their loss is, their spouses and families are taken care of (as brought up BY the spouses and families). I am TREMENDOUSLY proud of our military and, if there was a unified, trustworthy effort made towards the goal that started this thread, I would volunteer times and/or funds where available. BUT, these brave, brave men and women are doing the job they CHOSE to do (God Bless 'Em for chosing it!). What is getting me so cheesed off is that, ONCE AGAIN, we (America) seem to be blissfully quiet about helping the families of the victims. Remember them? The poor, unlucky people who did nothing more than get on a plane or go to their jobs. I'm pretty damned sure none of their job descriptions included risking their lives because extremists opted to make their ill-conceived point by flying a friggin' PLANE into their BUILDING!! Or, when taking a vacation, I'm pretty sure no one bought airline insurance that could reimburse their families sufficiently to compensate for the unspeakable horror of everything that has happened! So, before you DARE criticize anyone else for their opinions or choices, take a long, hard look at your own. Are O&A CD's REALLY the most effective way to do the most good? Yes, we are at war. But, in our CNN-MSNBC, 24-7 news inspired zeal about the war, let us not forget that we had our first casualities long before we went to Afghanistan. Wow, what the hell was THAT? My point is there is alot of people that are deserving of everyone's help, not just who is deemed 'worthy.' I lost a friend in the towers, I know they were unwilling martyrs. And Its not like I was asking for money to be donated, just a little bit of your time here and there. Its not like I'm forming the red cross here, I just figured it was something that the GI's who like O&A would enjoy; and i figured this section of the forum was best-equipped to do it.
