In the last month or so, we've seen a lot of newbies join our little cluster-fuck, but two (TWO!) stand out as being worthy of being here (our Drunk and our Canadian). I see a new resurgance of the "I NEED A FEED" type of thread. Well, I have an answer to this. Any time if a newbie starts a thread requesting a feed or if they are reported by a regular (which would at present even exclude myself), they are automatically banned from the board. They are actually asking us to advertise what is inherently an illegal activity. They don't generate the electricity in their misanthropic minds to be worthy of being here. BAN THE STUPID NEWBIES! PLEASE!! Or, YOU COULD MAKE SOMEONE HERE THE "LORD HIGH EXECUTIONER" of newbies. Just a thought. I edited the opening phrase or any reference to the "M" word out of respect for Av8er. However, I disagree that we are self-sufficient in that we, much like our poor, beleaguered nation, will allow any old asshole in until one of them flys a plane up our ass. These people can't grasp the concept of a Syndication UNDERGROUND and, as such, pose a sever security risk if they were to get the needed information. I hate to sound like a cop (which I'm not), but it seems the only way to protect ourselves. Ban them before they get the information that will ultimately end up hurting all of us. | O&A Board Veteran Registered: Jul. 00 | Let's not be so hasty in our decisions here TJLamb. What you all thought was insanity yesterday was merely a simple demonstration on my part. We've been through this before and, as people in SU come and go I'm sure we'll go through it again. Yesterday I greeted a newbie with kindness and understanding. I lent a hand to someone in need. As a direct result of that action we got no less than four more newbies asking for help. (That count does not include the many that contacted me directly.) I don't mind helping people out. And, I really don't mind newbies. What I do mind is when they get all bitchy because things didn't go their way. Which is bound to happen if they post a thread asking for a feed. We all had to start somewhere. None of us came here an expert. Even I spent quite a bit of time here learning the ways of the board and of SU. Without help from those that were here before me I would have never made it this far. I agree that there is a security issue. This whole thing isn’t exactly legal. We all know what happens when the wrong people get too much information about anything in here. But, this “keep it locked away†attitude only addresses the Underground part. The other half is Syndication and, if we don’t do it, who will. For a long time now I have been assisting newbies in connecting to SU feeds off the board via e-mail and/or AIM. Many of you are already aware of this. Many of you have helped in this manner. To the rest of you… say what you like about me but, I’m doing my part to spread the virus. There are a few things I look for in a post before helping anyone. First and foremost, an e-mail address or AIM. If they aren’t willing to trust us with their contact info, why should we trust them with our SU. Also, I do not respond to demands. If they want help, they should keep that in mind while seeking it. Ask politely and you’ll get help. And, of course, if the name is obviously female, I’m gonna do my best to make a good impression. Beyond that… well, yeah it would be great if everyone jumped aboard with a full understanding of how things work but, that just ain’t gonna happen. So, do with this what you will but, remember the rules always apply. If it ain’t yours, don’t post it. If you want to help newbies out, be sure you get permission from the owners of any feeds or help sites before distributing them. Also… This forum was getting awfully slow. Luring in a few fresh newbies once in a while sure livens things up. Yeah, what av8er said... we handle our own problems in SU  Long Live the "Syndication Underground" | ||||

Am I asking anything that a MODERATELY intelligent person could accomplish with a minimum of trouble? NO! Would I fault anyone for these endless requests if the information was not there for the taking? NO! What we're talking about here is simple: INITIATIVE: Look for it. It's the lazy person who looks at a board with as many threads as this and thinks THEIR request for information about the SU is a new idea. THINK: UNDERGROUND is a very key word, people. RESPECT: You'll get more flies with honey than you will with vinegar (but, remember, from me you get NOTHING! Good day, Sir!). RESEARCH: Earn what you're looking for. If some people would get off their lazy, ding-dong bloated asses and LOOK for information, you'd be surprised on how much easier it would be and how quickly you'd be a VALUED member of the board. (or womanhood) crap, i read the threads for a couple of months before i even posted anything. you'll still be a newbie (like me) when you post anything, but at least you won't ask dumb questions. I've decided to increase my post count, because I'm going to quit this job anyways. Why not get some status?? | ||||
