Hanger-On Registered: Nov. 01 | Since I know aver is having a problem with static on his feed I'll ask this of everyone: Does anybody know of a really good, really strong AM/FM radio suitable for SU? I've been using my stereo for the last couple months, but I also find there's a fair amount of static in my rips. I live really close to Carter National Airport, and there are several computers near the radio, but there has to be something out there with great reception that's shielded. I'd even get one of those radios that plays TV stations, I just don't want to dick around with buying 100 radios and returning them. So how about it? Any exceptional radios out there? O&A Board Veteran Registered: Jul. 00 | I don't think it's the radio that's the problem. Any decent quality radio is going to perform about the same. What you need is a better antenna. Without being very familiar with your setup and your location, my suggestion would be to go talk to the geeks at your local radioshack. Middle of the day... middle of the week is usually pretty slow and, they get bored and are dying to show people how smart they are. But, seriously... they'll be familiar with the local conditions and, are better suited to help ya out. Long Live the "Syndication Underground"

Hanger-On Registered: Apr. 02 | You ever notice that the reception in your car is sooo much better than that of your expensive home stereo. You pick up twice as many stations and they have clearer signal. Its because the car radio manufacturer knows that it has to work static free in one of the harshest RF environments or they sell no car radios. The makers of your home stereo spend about 45 cents on the part that is the receiver of your radio thanks to integrated circuitry and the consumer who no longer holds them to task over their crappy product. You may want to investigate getting one of those to work.

O&A Board Regular Registered: Jan. 01 | quote:I actually have the opposite happen to me. In my crappy 89 Accord the radio reception is horrible - and it's a decent 2 year old Sony deck too. The home stereo is a $400 receiver though, and though I use an antenna, without one I only get a hint of static. Maybe a powered antenna would do the trick? I used to have one that I picked up at the Wiz years ago for around $50 and it really helped out my old home stereo reception-wise. You can reach me through AIM or email. O&A Board Regular Registered: Oct. 00 | hey fooguy... I don't know if this will help you, but it help me out quite a bit... (thanks to barch & SBlueman for the tips) but try setting the volume on your stereo at a lower volume (like 2-5) and set your line-in or mic line levels up higher... it didn't completely eliminate my static problem, but it does sound much better...
