| Hanger-On Registered: Aug. 01  | I'm new to this picking up OnA on the computer and can't get it to work. Now that I moved to Baltimore I'm not able to pick them up on the radio. I've followed all of the steps on the links in other postings, but I always get a message that my winamp cannot connect. It keeps telling me that the connection timed out. Anyone have any idea why? | O&A Board Veteran Registered: Jul. 00 | Sorry, didn't mean to insult your internet connection. I meant the whole thing...all the way from yuor computer to the broadcast point. (there are several computers in between) Something in there is not responding fast enough. Again, try another feed. P.S. just because you're connected to a network doesn't mean you have a fast internet connection. How does your LAN connect to the internet? You could be connected to a shared dial-up 56k modem. Also, you're on a LAN...so, your bandwidth is shared. Try disconnecting all the other computers in your building from the internet. This will result in much faster connection speeds for you. | Psychopath Registered: Mar. 01 | Barch - I can help with this one Barney - You may have what is known as a firewall - You know - The software that keeps the state of Florida from being able to listen to the show from the internet. Call your help desk and ask them to turn your firewall off. Don't worry, there is not much computer crime out there so they should not mind. If they do not want to let you through the firewall you could always tell them you are trying to listen to O&A instead of working. If that does not work, tell them that there is some great porn available - I mean really good stuff - The kind where women get punched in the uterus while taking it in the ballon knot. If this does not work, please turn in your 2 week notice and apply for a job at a company who does not give a shit about employee productivity. If that does not work - See TrAnCeFoRoCe and ask him for a hammer and a rope. He will be happy to provide you with instructions on what to do with them. Mulligan  | ||||

It would be something more like "couldn't connect" or "no port available" or "connection terminated by local host"....?
