| Y100 is the station that is trashing O&A, with voice-overs that say something along the lines of who wants to listen to a rock station that plays 4 hours of new york guys that just won't shut up!
What tools.

| Welcome to the party, man. Good to see someone from Philly joining the family, and doing such a good job on the first post. Good work at the O&A look-out post.

| I give Y100 credit for 2 things:
1) at least they're stepping up to the plate. I mean, they're gonna go down in flames but they're not running away either.
2) they've got the best radio billboard I've ever seen. On I-95 entering Philly, there's a Y-100 board with a real time "scoreboard" that tells you what group they're playing at that moment. Always thought that was cool... too bad it ususally says N*Sync!!!

I'm just kidding, you look like you can do fine without adoption. Just take Froy's age-old advice and think before you post and you'll go far. |

Wookie: I do have to agree, those billboards are pretty cool. But, do their DJs ever talk about what a girl's sporting in her pants? I think not!
NYD80: Thanks bro, see ya around the board, or possibly at an O&A outing in Philly? |

| Any station that plays N*Sync is NOT competeing in the same demographic as Opie and Anthony. They were right to leave it alone. I dont even understand why a top 40 station would even bother trying to knock O&A. Males 18-50 dont listen to that crap anyway.

| I haven't heard the Y100 stuff, but I've certainly heard WMMR 93.3 tool on WYSP for playing Stern and O&A. WMMR is even trashing them for airing Eagles games! They are relentless, and it's sad because WMMR plays great tunes, but I'm ready to take them off my pre-set stations......then the email will start. I think if WMMR hears from enough O&A fans, they will knock it off

| Actually, VooDude, I kinda agree with WMMR on this one. Not about trashing O&A (which I'm not sure they're really doing) but, trashing WYSP. Never liked that station. Since way back when stern had his little funeral thing for John DiBella. They claim to be a "Rock" station and, yet the they have talk shows on during the 2(TWO!) most listened to time slots. And, when it's not talk, it's rap. Don't get me wrong, I'd much rather listen to O&A than "Rock" but, if you're gonna advertise your station as a "Rock" station... Maybe you should play some?

| Actually, I like WYSP. I was in Philly for a week and the station rocks. They play a good mix of classic rock and current rock. I hate Howard, but the Howard in the morning-O&A in the afternoon-music every other time format that WYSP and WBCN seems like it has a lot of promise. |

| Y100 doesn't play 'NSync, they usually play stuff like Weezer, Incubus, Tool, etc.. it's not a bad station when you want to listen to music, but the DJs are a bunch of tools. No personality, WYSP has people like Couzin Ed, who I think are great...

| barch97,
I kinda know what you mean, but I'm a talk radio junkie, so it's heaven for me. Anyone looking for music on WYSP during the day is probably out of luck. But they do kick ass late at night....

Y100 doesn't play N*Sync, and is not a top 40 station. WookiePoolParty was right about the fact that they have the billboard he describes, but wrong about the fact that it usually reads "N*Sync." Usually, when I pass it, it reads "Y-100", which is their way of saying that they're playing commercials...
Y100 is one of many and varied Rock stations in Philadelphia. Y100 concentrates on "alternative" rock, while WYSP (when not playing talk shows) plays "active" rock, and WMMR plays what can only be described as what WNEW used to play, or what WBAB currently plays - a mix of classic rock with current rock. Philly also has a station that calls itself "Mix" but plays the safe current rock music, an 80s rock station, and a "Classic Hits" station.
For Y100 and WMMR to play promos criticising WYSP for playing talk during morning and afternoon drive is nothing but smart business. You guys have to admit that not every person who listened to rock music in the afternoon is going to all of a sudden fall in love with the O&A show. Some of them listened to WYSP in the afternoon because they wanted to hear music, and will be quickly looking to other stations to hear music. For WMMR and Y-100 to try to steer the former WYSP listeners in their directions is smart business. It's not the same as someone like Rocko in Boston, who says that O&A suck. The stations in Philly are simply saying that WYSP claims to be "the Rock station" but doesn't play rock during the times when most people are listening to the radio. They're not insulting the O&A show, just trying to attract the people who want to listen to rock music.

| aindik,
That was a long-winded, but very accurate description of Philly radio. I agree that WMMR is just trying to use the "they're all talk" thing to pull in listeners, however I don't completely agreee that it is smart business. When I tune in to WMMR at night, and I hear them trashing a radio station and a program that I enjoy.....the station gets changed.

| Y100? Is that the station with the cute little bee as a "mascot"? Let 'em say what they want, their little mascot will die as soon as it tries to sting the great and all powerful Opie and Anthony.
I listen to Howard on the way to work. The first day O&A were syndicated in Philly, I thought "who the fuck are these guys??", as I laughed my ass off.
Now I drive to work in the morning thinking, "Who the fuck is this guy?", as I down a gallon of coffee to keep me awake.
Coming home is so much better than going to work!

Now THAT is some cringe radio!

| Haven't heard Barsky talk S yet, but I figured that was coming. What's he saying?
I've just about given up on most morning talk radio. Now I just listen to that old dude on New Jersey 101.5
He is always on a rant about "too much traffic on the New Jersey turnpike" or "the tolls are too much" or "insurance companies suck".....it's so damn stupid that I actually get a laugh out of it.

| Barsky knows all about Opie & Anthony - he worked up in Boston while they were there I think.
I also DISTINCTLY remember a caller about a year back mentioning something along the lines of Barsky's Fellatio Friday sounding a little like WOW and the Tuesday night Hummer Club.
Barsky said he had listened to O&A and thought they were funny - "HOO HOO he's ripping us off HOO HOO"
"Look how hot they're getting. And that's an old picture," Anthony says. |

| Three rock stations??? Good thing O&A's station is going talk in the morning and in the afternoon. A change of pace from hearing the same song played on three different stations. I nearly shoot myself when I hear Incubus's "Drive" now since its being played by at least three different stations in NY I cant imagine three stations in the same city with nearly the same format. So please Y100, advertise there's something different on YSP.

| Barsky never worked in Boston. I remember hearing a caller mention that they listened to O&A in the afternoon and Barsky in the morning.Barsky went on to say that he heard O&A's show a couple of times and thought they were great...kinda cool and unusual for another D.J. to be honest.
