| Psychopath Registered: Aug. 01  | I'm new to the board and have been jumping around. I'm a lazy bastard and I didn't see this topic so I'm bringing it up again. Do all hardcore O & A fans hate Stern? I just started to listen to the boys (Philly) and dig their show a bunch, but am not a superfan, or whatever yet. I know Howard had a gag order on O & A, which is pussy, but I've heard he gives them a little more credit than the group of jocks he demisses as "clones". The only thing I know is no one as funny as Norton has sat in on Stern's show, unless the man himself has. Sorry for the long post.... | ||||

| Psychopath Registered: Dec. 00 | i dont think they are complete enemies as some people make them out to be. a while ago stern called them clones of his show and OnA had some retaliation and then the gag order and you know the whole fuggin bit 12 times over. But not long ago a listener from a new city called and said that he loved the show and thought that that they were funnier than stern. anthony then made a coment like " well that is a fine compliment" and the call just ended. so Ant was kinda giving props to the stern show by calling that a compliment. yes it is an old question and who cares if your post is a mile long. | O&A Board Regular Registered: Oct. 00 | Actually, other than the fact that you might have wanted to put this in Enemies of the Show, it's a decent post. Howard did have the gag order on O&A, but it is gone with their new contract (the same contract which got them syndicated, the reason you can now hear them on YSP)... Anyhoo, Stern is as much of a matter of personal preference with hardcore fans as it is with anyone else. Some people listen to Stern *and* O&A, every day. Some can't stand Stern at all. It really all depends. Personally, I used to listen to Stern every now and then. He never really got me hooked. O&A, however, got me hooked big time. That happened some time before Stern got his divorce..... I don't think there's a Stern fan out there who can legitimately say TRUTHFULLY that Stern's show hasn't degraded since then. And really, I've heard Stern call O&A his clones... I've never heard him give them any more credit than that, but hey, I don't listen to him anymore, so I wouldn't really know for sure. | O&A Board Regular Registered: Sep. 00 | Personally I despise Howard! hes too big of an egomaniac. Hes made it so hard for shows that came on after him by brainwashing all his fans into thinking everyone rips him off (hoo hoo robin) thats why it is so difficult for O and A everytime they enter a new market. in a new market without even hearing O and A all the Stern fans already are preset to hate them. This just adds another obstacle O and A have to overcome that shouldnt be there in the first place. You'll see when Sean Hannity gets rolled out into major syndication in a couple of weeks no one will be calling up saying that hes ripping off Rush Limbaugh even though he does the exact gimmick Rush Limbaugh does. Limbaugh could go on the radio everyday saying how hannity rips him off (hoo hoo robin) but Limbaugh isnt a big dick like Howard is  M. Menino- Waiting for the glorious day O and A pass Howard the deek in the ratings (only 2.8 to go) | ||||

| O&A Board Regular Registered: Jun. 01 | As it was stated before, it is all the choice of the listener. I used to listen to Hoo Hoo Howie a long time ago before I discovered O & A. Then, I discovered the more gooder show that is the O n A Radio Network and I have not been satisfied with Stern since. To each his own... I don't hate Stern personally, I do hate when he constantly bitches that he created the earth and everything breathing is copying him. On a lighter note. Sick + Hillarious = Norton. Words don't give this man justice... he's proven time and time again to be a comic genius. And... welcome to the board Scrappleking. | O&A Board Regular Registered: Jan. 01 | Scrappleking, As has been said by Logic, this really probably belonged in Enemies thread. You should look through some of those threads, and you'll see O&A fans fall across the board. I personally used to love Stern, and listened from his days on WNBC. I think his show changed around the time Sam Kinnison died. He was still funny, but not as much. After his movie came out, he seemed to lose his edge. I stopped listening regularly around a year ago; however since there is nothing on here in NY, I'll occasionally tune him in and see if he's doing anything interesting. O&A have said several times that they listened to Howie when they were younger. One of their big beefs with him is that he won't accept anyone else as being funny, and Howie pussied out by referring to them as clones, (but usually not by name), and by using his power to try and silence them. As Opie would put it, all they want is a level playing field.  | ||||

| Psychopath Registered: Aug. 01 | One of the funniest things I've heard on the show since the boys have been on in Philly was when Scotty Krane, son of tv icon/renound perv Bob Krane was on. Ant was doing Stern and saying that he invented everything that Bob Krane did. Something to the extent of "Robin, I don't care if I was only 2, I invented filming women getting banged". I have listened to Stern for years and it only took me a few days to see that O & A are fresher and funnier than anything on the radio today. | ||||

Even if you don't get through it feels like you're in on the show. As an aside, the day that comic Richard Jenney called in and Opie kept on hanging up on him just as he was about to plug his upcoming show was too fucking brutal. | ||||

| Hanger-On Registered: Jun. 01 | I was a Stern listener as well. For along time in NY radio, every show that came out in the NY radio market seemed like a Rip-off. That is why O&A are so refreshing. I have seen rip offs and hacks. But, these guys are genuinly funny. If they were no talent Hacks Nobody would be listening. This show is the Number 1 rated show in its slot. And this isn't in some po-dunk city. This is in Howard Sterns home turf of New York. | ||||
