| Hanger-On Registered: Jan. 02  | You guys seem to obsess on the fact that Howard is ripping off O and A. I started listening to Howard in 1985 and there was noone else even coming close to what he was doing. "Bob Grants Horny Patrol" on WABC was a big deal at the time. (you honked you horn at a given time to show you were listening to him) When I first heard him a few years later, Opie was on BAB at night playing Bad Company albums and I can remember one of his outrageous stunts...he had a group of people who went into the South Shore Mall and started singing Christmas Carols. This was before Anthony became his sidekick. Does anybody remember Anthony's appearance on Howard doing Jackie impressions? I listen to O and A but to compare them to Howard is like comparing C&C cola to Coke. They are good but will never be in Howards league. Howard blazed the trail for all of these guys. Why else would it have taken Opie to "discover" Anthony and reinvent himself to what he is today? Opie should take out a "Key man insurance" policy on Anthony and pray that nothing ever happens to him because Anthony is the true original on that show. F the rotting skull of Don Imus | ||||

By the way, the Clinton bit everyone is saying Howard ripped off from the show has been played on many stations around the country. Most of the morning shows subscribe to a comedy service. I don't remember Opie doing those bits on BAB way back when. I wonder where he came up with the idea of playing background clips while he interviewed people....probably when he worked for Brother Louise (I mean Brother Wheeze)LOL! No one can do it alone. I've heard Anthony try to do the show solo and it just wasn't as good. And in my opinion, the past two weeks of the O&A radio have been carried by Opie's psycho-factor. Everyone is entitled to an opinion...if you think that Howiewood is better than O&A than good for you. However, this board obviously feels strongly about the opposite and coming here and trying to push your point of view makes about as much sense as calling Stern and bringing it up to him on the air.
