I agree that Stern has begun to use some terms that O & A often use (but do not own) - like "Dirty Sanchez" and "Rusty Trombone," two that I have heard - more frequently as of late. My point was that those phrases are not ones that O & A invented or patented, these are fairly common terms that have been around for years, so to say that Stern stole them from O & A means that anyone who uses these terms did too. I simply think when O & A fans stoop to the level of the Stern diehards/O & A haters that we loathe, with the "he stole this, he stole that" bullshit, especially with things that are in no way O & A exclusive, we/they lose credibility when it comes to things that other people really did steal - WOW, the chick on the "Today" show, "OK, Terrific" which people have reportedly heard on KTU - the old "boy that crys wolf" cliche. You guys are so friggin whacked out of your minds if you truly think that Howard Stern sits around and studies the O&A show, Howard Stern could give 2 of his smelly shits about O&A. The only reason Howard ever gave them any attention is because they crossed Howie's invisible line and he thru a gag order on them...WHICH IS THE BEST THING THAT COULD HAVE HAPPENED TO THEM! The gag order gave them the attention they craved & the show sorely needed. I have been a Stern fan since I was 6 years old, I am now 22. The guy has been around my entire life and he has always been an innovator in radio, his comedy true and socially relevant. His show IS NOT, NEVER HAS, AND NEVER WILL BE the O&A show. I have been an O&A fan for about 4 months now. I can see that they possibly may have a large future. The O&A show is an off the cuff, spontaneous show with a level of high school humor at a constant stream. If this syndication thing really takes off, they will HAVE TO CHANGE. They will become exactly what you people PROFESS to hate about Howard Stern, hell with the new contract O&A are already paid in the MILLIONS, more money that most of you can fathom. There will be high security around the show, little to no more unscheduled guests that just come in to shoot the shit. The show will lose its spontaneous edge and become an organized on schedule show, just like Stern had to become. In response to jap bike jim's post. ARE YOU FUCKIN RETARDED? The terms "Cleveland Steamer", "Pittsburgh Platter", and O&A's "Dirty Sanchez" have been around for as long as I can remember. On the Stern a couple years ago ('95/'96) there was a bit where Gary (BabaBooey) brought in a book or an article with all the definitions of kinky & disgusting fetish & sex terms. That is when the glory of "Dirty Sanchez" was found. I highly doubt it, but if you want to accuse anyone of "stealing" the term it would be O&A. It just so happens around that time a guy who did a radio show in Boston named Anthony Cumia came on the show for a contest on who did the best Jackie impression...SO ANTHONY MUST HAVE STOLEN THE TERM! (GASP! Sarcasm! Oh MY!) The "You Ruuned It" & "Tool" claims? Again, please, when does Stern not yell at people on his staff for ruining a bit? Because some radical whacked out O&A fan happened to be listening to Stern (because he/she hates him SO MUCH!) that day and heard him yelling at a staffer and he said, "YOU ROOINED THE BIT, You ruined it!" or "...your such a tool." He stole those termsand is desperately trying to be O&A? WAKE THE FUCK UP! THE WORLD DOESNT REVOLVE AROUND THE SO-CALLED STERN vs. O&A feud. Because Stern doesn't know who Jay Mohr is, and because he obviously wasn't funny enough around Gary for him to reccomend that Jay sits in on the news. Jay is now angry with Stern, goes on O&A and bashes Stern almost every chance he gets. Jay Mohr is a bitter, bitter guy. There is nothing I love more than when some asshole cals into O&A and says, "...You Guys Are So Much Better Than Howard Stern." I laugh my ass of when there is just a dead silence from O&A because one of there brain-dead fans labeled them clones. Don't you guys realize that everytime you rip on Stern you give him credit for making O&A's show possible? "I used to be a fan 5-10 years ago but now Stern sucks, I listen to O&A..." Right there, in that statement you are calling the your "ARMY LEADERS" clones. The less you talk about Stern the more relevant O&A will be. They don't need to be compared to Stern or make Stern the "Enemy" to have a great show. Stern is on in the morning, he is still funny, he is still the best thing on in the morning. Stern will never give O&A credit while he is on the air...he can't. He is too angry at Mel Karmazin for turning WNEW into a talk station with nothing but his imitators. Maybe in another 4 years when Howard's contract ends, he retires, and needs to find someone to put in his time slot, maybe then he will give O&A the credit they deserve. But by that time you will probably think that O&A are old and losing it. | ||||

| Psychopath Registered: May. 01 | i dunno skeptic, as far as security getting beefed up for o&a and less and less guests just "popping in", i think its going to take them awhile to get to that level. enlighten me as to when stern's show started becoming that carefully constructed, because i have no clue. even if their show's structure becomes similar to his, it's going to take at least a few years for that to happen. let's face it, its going to be at least that amount of time until o&a hit #1 in all 22 markets theyre going to, so i think the show as it exists now will continue to be constant until they do reach a level akin to national superstardom..... | ||||
