| O&A Board Regular Registered: Jan. 01  | I was in my car this morning around 9am and decided to put on 92.3. He was talking about how great he was, how the papers, tabloid & tabloid TV shows take his interviews and don't credit him... fine... whatever. Then a woman calls up and tells him that the interview with Jessica Hahn was so old, (which of course it is), and he gives his "well, some things are new, some people like it, blah, blah" Then it gets interesting. She asks if he saw Rolling Stone Article - about how his ratings are dropping. He says "my ratings are not dropping" (a lie), "it is just the religious right giving him trouble (wrong, his NY numbers are down, and religious right has no influence here), "People are always trying to knock me down", etc. Then she mentions that Stone says O&A are the up and comming personalities (a fan?). This is where he gets bad. "Opie and Anthony? well, there are a lot of clones around. How can anyone be better than me if they're copying me?". He then starts on a "Rolling Stone has an agenda" thread, and "What do you want from a magazine with Justin Timberlake on the cover" blah blah blah. The back with "This started when another station put on all sorts of imitators" "Opie and Anthony are on in afternoon; If anyone wants to say they are better than me, let them go up against me in the mornings". What drivel. I like hearing O&A on in afternoons when I can really listen, but sometimes I wish they took the Clear Channel deal and kicked his ass. | O&A Board Regular Registered: Jan. 01 | Well, he kinda pussied. He mentioned Opie & Anthony, and he mentioned "others" going up against him in the morning. It was a rant, O&A obviously the main (but not only) target. Nitron - It was part of Stern's last contract - the no compete clause. That was one of O&A's pet peeves - WXRK was allowed to program against them, but WNEW was not allowed to put anything similar against stern - hence the "Sports Guys". And Fandick, Once again he gave his "In 4 years I'll leave and be done with this". 8 years ago, I believed this. Now it is simply tiresome. Someone should clue him in that if he'd stop being a whiney bastard, he might be funny again. Just be honest; people will respect it. | O&A Board Regular Registered: Sep. 00 | Here's what it boils down to: Stern's Iron grip radio empire is beginning to crumble, and mentioning O&A by name is one of the signs that he is admitting defeat. A few years ago, Stern had the fire, and energy, and the fight, to take on his competition, and his competition did what he said, by rolling over and playing dead. But now, you have a new breed of Shock Jocks, like O&A, who don't listen to anyone, and do their own show. This scares Stern, so he really had no choice but to resort to cowardly attacks because he found out his word means nothing. You see, Hollywood blew so much smoke up Stern's ass, he began believeing it, and his own lies. The result, his Ego became to big too feed, which in turn results in losing his fanbase, respect, and people who use to hang out with him, not to mention his ex-wife and kids. Sometimes, it doesn't pay to be part of the beautiful people. I'm placing bets that we're gonna find out that Stern commits suicide a couple of years from now. He'll be founbd in the bathtub naked, with his wrists slit, and the words everyone is ripping me off, hoo hoo hoo, as his last words either written in blood on the bathroon wall, or on a piece of paper written with a marker.  Everyone has a reason to live. My reason is to piss off my opposition because I enjoy their misery. Now accepting applications for two new headhunters to be trained. | ||||

| Hanger-On Registered: Aug. 01 | Just to clarify things, I listened very closely to that segment to see if he would say anything specifically about them, and he did not use their names. The caller said their names and the Rolling Stone quote and then said "..it made me sick to my stomach". She was not a fan. Howard did go off on a rant about the clones and the religious right, as well as Rolling Stone. The only comment he made directly concerning Opie and Anthony were "..those guys are on in the afternoon anyway." and sort of challenged them to air in the morning. He talked of his company "putting on all these clones and sometimes its bad and sometimes its...", but he never finished the sentence. He just said he'd rather not talk about other these shows. But he didnt mention their names. Also Im tired of this "I just happened to tune in.." bullshit. If you hate Stern, dont listen to him. Dont make any posts related to him. You can bet your ass that if they had to choose between either him or O & A for a time slot, they'd pick O & A. I just think it sucks that the same guys own both of their contracts so we won't see something like that. | ||||

However, there is NOTHING ON in the morning here in NYC. Sports Guys were decent with Sid, but now are nothing. Imus is Old, and only decent with some guests. WXRK is playing Stern, so no music. the other music stations insist on talking in the morning, when they have no talent. Stern isn't what he was, but sometimes he is OK. That is why I occasionally tune in. I don't have an agenda. But when he acts like a dick, he deserves to be called on it. If you check my posts, I never condemn reasonable Stern supporters - but that doesn't mean Stern should be able to go on his mountain and spout half truths. The Same Stern who always complained that he was the outsider who fought for his freedom of speech now would prefer to silence others who might be competition. The truth always need to be spoken. Stay here and be enlightened, or keep the fog around your brain - your choice. | ||||

| O&A Board Regular Registered: Jan. 01 | Quiddity, Stern is the horse that Mel Karmazin rode to lead the Infinity charge. Young Stern helped build the empire. Now Mel is beholden to old man Stern. It would not be financially responsible for Infinity to put O&A on in mornings instead of Stern, when they can have strength in both markets; Thats why the boys almost went to Clear Channel. Some day this will change; just not yet. | ||||

Who Im talking about are the ones who claim to hate Stern, yet listen to him everyday and hang on to his every word. I see these so-called Stern-haters post about him everyday, complaing about the things he does and how much he sucks. This is to everybody who "hates" Stern: Dont post about himand dont listen. There has been no one better then Stern at his best but the truth is he is not that guy anymore.I blame his shrink for making him a pussy. I used to cry like a little bitch from laughter watching his channel 9 shows. When I listen to his show now I'm lucky if i get a chuckle. And you can call me a fag but this guy was my hero but i feel let down. It's kinda like watching Superman get his Ass kicked in Superman 2 when he gave up his powers for puntang. I do listen to his show now, but only to see if he can get enough Ballies to mention O+A. It all comes down to this America loves the Underdog and Stern has become the establishment. | ||||
