No, Would i give my life if it meant i'd take ben ladin with me? Yes. Besides maybe religious reasons and other view points which are many on why i would not fight. You say reap the rewards of living here yes i am happy to live here and i am happy to pay my taxes to be protcted. But if i say buy a house and i get burglarized, we have a police force to handle it, yes? Ok now i pay my taxes and do work in order to fund this police force to protect me, so they can do it not me and so i don't have to hunt down who vandalized my home. You wanna be a cop do so you wanna be a marine or go in the army fine. BUT i don't feel if we pay 261 Billion dollars for national security i should fight cause america fucked up. And yes they did this is all due to clintons 5 years of pussy footing as bin laden bombed embasies in africa, bombed naval ships, and bombed the WTC in 1993. It is due to bush not finishing the job in iraq it is due to presidents pussy footing with all these criminals of the world, till it is too late from the marcos to noriega and now to huessein and bin laden. There will not be another vietnam and i doubt we will ever inlist the draft again anyway, but volunteer i would not. If called i would probably go but i would not volunteer. I know it's been said many times but it is true it's not like america does it by itself without our tax dollars and our help this country wouldnt be what it is. Yes some help by defending and others help in other ways. But we do it by our own choice. This country doesn't care when my family dies, when i am sick, or when i am sad or when i need help. But i love my country none the less and would not wanna be anywhere else. and i thank your brother for defending me and our country. | Hanger-On Registered: Aug. 01 | I respect what you have said, Gonzo. In the thread which I refered to there were several people who said they could not, or would not for whatever reason. I respect their reasons and one of the beauties of this country is that they have the freedom to make that decision. In typing this response, I realize that Ikea and Rone have their own reasons and they also have the freedom to make that decision. My thread may have been born in haste due to my completely overwhelming emotions that I know most people share right now. I have so many feelings going on right now and I don't know how to even begin to channel them. I mourn for our innocence lost. I fear for the friends and loved ones we have yet to hear from. I am relieved for those of us whose families are safe and I have such anger and hatred for whoever did this. I guess I was just trying to vent some of them and perhaps I didn't think my post out completely (Sorry, Froy) . I would like to repeal my FU to Rone. I would also like to repeal most of my FU to Ikea - your tasteless joke was completely inappropriate, but that may have been one of your ways of channeling the emotions, so I guess it's just a mini-baby FU! Sorry guys! On a side note, I would like to thank the people who run this board and those who contribute to it. I found a lot of peace and solace in reading all of the posts yesterday and knowing that I was not alone in my conflicting and overwhelming emotions. Thank you all for that and God bless you. | ||||
