| Psychopath Registered: Sep. 00  | I am sending a big F-U to myself and here is why: I subscribe to DirecTV mainly for the Football package. A friend of mine told me though that I could get all the channels on DirecTV for free with a burned access card. All I had to do was pay $250 and the card was mine. So I plop down the cash and a couple hours later am the proud owner of a burned card. And this thing works like a gem! I am getting everything for free! PPV, sports packages, all the premium movie channels and porn. Everything is coming in without a glitch, and I figure screw the bill and enjoy. Everything is working great for about 3 months and then....my signal just disappears. What I didn't know was that you still have to pay the $31.99 for the basic package so you can get a signal. And now my signal is gone. And when I get my shut down notice I see my bill is over $230. Total bummer, but not that big a deal I think. What I can do is just wait to pay the bill and when I do my signal will come back just in time for football. I wait until this past weekend to pay my bill. I go to one of those bodegas/bill pay centers (BIG MISTAKE) and pay what I owe, figuring that in 3-4 buisness days the payment will post and I will have all the channels back and at the same time save myself the Western Union fee of $11.99. Three days pass and....no signal. I call DirecTV to see what the hell happened. First, my payment has not posted yet and on top of that my bill has gone to a collection agency so now I have to pay an additional $31.99 for the first month of basic service. SO now I have to run to a Western Union and pay the fee as well as Western Unions fee. $43.98 later and a couple hours later I call DirecTV back, and yes they got the $31.99, but not the big $230 payment! So I have to wait...and wait...finally the next day I call and the payment has gone thru!I am getting my service back! Or so I thought....now they tell me to turn on my reciever and I should see the channels come back on...and they don't. They have me turn off the reciever, unplug it and wait 5 mintues then plug it back in and turn it back on. Still nothing. Obviously I am pissed. They put me on hold and connect me to Technical Support (Why couldn't they give me them in the first place???) So get the techie on the phone and spend more time turning this on, checking this signal, and more. Nothing. No signal. Then the techie says...."looks like you need a new access card, and since your warranty ran out LAST MONTH you have to pay $34.95 for a new card." Of course I can get a credit on my account for the card if I send back my existing card...which is NOT AN OPTION SINCE IT IS HIGHLY ILLEGAL! So lets see.....$250 for the original card, $230 for the overdue bill, $31.99 for the month up front, $11.99 for the Western Union fee and finally $34.95 for the goddamn access card. That brings me to a grand total of $558.93. All so I can get "free" DirecTV. And all of this could have been avoided if I only had payed for the basic service in the beginning and not stopped paying my goddamn bill. So to me.....FUUUUCKKK YOUUUU! | O&A Board Regular Registered: Jan. 01 | Did you put the card directly into the reciever? If you did then that's your problem they can scramble the card. You have to run an emulator connected to a crappy computer around 100 mhz or so(get one on ebay dirt cheap) and have the emulator do all the work. It works great for me. Can't wait for football season to start. | O&A Board Regular Registered: May. 00 | That sucks, but know that DTV is now cracking down on illegal cards. They can disable it of course and possibly take you to court. With those cards, they can track down where you live! I don't know if it was an option for you, but I'd go to a bar somewhere to see the other games. | Psychopath Registered: Sep. 00 | ok here is a couple questions I have about the burned cards: 1- are they made obsolete after a while by DirecTV sending updating info thru the phone line that you can't pick up if you don't have the phone line in? 2- Is there any problems picking up the football packages? Mainly NFL Sunday Ticket? I can't miss one of my Titan games at all (not a bandwagon fan, I am a long time Oiler/Titan fan) 3- As long as I pay the 31.99 a month for the basic package I won't get my signal booted? To answer your questions. 1)Your service might get fucked up if you connect the cards. 2)I haven't experience problems with the other sports packages. 3)If you are using an illegal card they will try to stop you but there are lots of precautions. You don't need to pay that bill anyway. Tequila check those sites and read them well. Take your sweet time. It will help you in the end. There are sites that will sell them and you can get them on Ebay. That's where I get mine. But make sure you get an emulator or they will fuck you up. | Psychopath Registered: Sep. 00 | I checked out those sites about the DSS emulators but I guess I just don't get it all. You mean I have to have a PC next to my TV? How does this work? And with these emulators, do I need to pay for service? All I read was technical mumbo jumbo that really meant nothing to me. Is there a site that explains it all in laymans terms?
