| Hanger-On Registered: Jan. 70  | I noticed today that you locked a thread in Fight Club. Now I always thought it to be probably the most assanine thing to do on this board, to lock a thread in FC. When FC comes with a disclaimer, it's a free for all. Plus especially since fight club has been a complete fuckin waste for the last several months cause there is no one left to make it fun or to carry a thread long enough. But this thread has over 180 replies and it was still being discussed, plus I am also curious as to what that guy said to make you edit his post. But I realy feel unless it's something that is just dragging someones personal info into things or a really bad judgement call, FC should not be moderated like the other forums. if someone bashes O&A in there so be it, that is what the place was made for, FC that is. | O&A Board Regular Registered: Oct. 00 | The reason I locked it was that all it had become was basically a platform for the same guy (Pauley) to come back, make more names, and cause trouble when he really has no place being on the board at all. I edited his post (read it here) because it was just more flames from an already-banned member. By leaving it there, and leaving the thread open, people would respond to it, and the douchebag would go make a few more new names. I've also emailed this "Pauley" character saying I have no problem with him being on the board as long as he's not going to be a useless piece of shit. He actually gave me a very civil reply. Seems he doesn't really want to cause trouble but he does feel that he got carried away with it. Attacking O&A is one thing but he tried to work the personal hand, in my mind that is going too far, in any argument that's about something else completely - not just on the board but in reality as well. So I think the whole mess is really over, but if you think I should unlock the thread then I will, or by all means do it for me... | O&A Board Veteran Registered: May. 00 | Is there even a moderator for the fight club??;) Seriously speaking though, I check the threads in FC for personal shit and things like that. As far as what is said there, I just let it go, as far as I think, thats what it is there for, for people to go after each other. Recently, with the exception of the Laz-Straw debacle, all the threads there are stern fans coming here and bashing O&A and the frivolity that ensues. As for GS's comments, I agree with them. There hasnt been a decent fight on this board in a while, and I dont count Kid-Straw a fight. More like 2 attention-whores trying to get the better of each other, but definately not a fight. Now a question I would ask is, what do we do with these O&A bashers? Do we ban them and seem like we are protecting O&A or let them speak and say their piece and let the other members drill them. In my case, unless its spam, I let them have their little debates and eventually they move on. But I've always wondered if there was a "policy" in place to deal with them.  I don't have a heart of gold and I don't grow one later, OK? But relax. There's other people a lot nicer coming up -- we call them losers. | ||||

Forget that this is just a discussion for future refernece as to how to deal with FC and O&A bashers. I believe if they have a reasonable discussion then move it to FC and let them have their platform, if they are just being dicks and saying O&A suck just to say it then I say ban them and lock the thread. But if they have something to say let them say it, it's fight club anyway let the people chew their asses out like filzy usually does even if he sucks at it. But it gives them some entertaiment and something to do. If we just delete them and their words without retorting it makes us look weak, even if some of us don't listen to the show anymore but this board is supposed to be for O&A. so let the fans defend them if they wish to is my opinion. | O&A Board Regular Registered: Oct. 00 | Well it pretty much started as the same old O&A suck routine.... like I said, fighting with Stern nutcases isn't exactly my idea of a Fight Club because they don't exactly fight, just post the same old shit.... Then he said he just got really annoyed, especially with me... heh... and he felt that he had to go for the throat which is where I thought it was getting out of hand. And as I said, I spoke to him over email, and I guess he's now free to wreak havoc on whatever other names he may have... but not go berserk.... which is fine and dandy by me... If it was still getting replies then that was atleast a few people having what they seem to feel is fun. Some people enjoy bashing the stern zombies like I said Filzy is one of them. I do not find it fun nor appealing to read. Then again many people hate my posting and think it is disgusting, the point being for future refernce and as a guide really if you are ever in doubt. I do not believe in my opinion threads like that should be closed, nor closed cause of personal taste.
