O&A Board Regular Registered: Oct. 00	I saw that there's a debate about it in OT, a thread which I did not fully get to read. So if someone there came up with my idea, fuck 'em, it's mine. Anyway, it seems that the people who don't care about post counts are those that HAVE lots of posts. And then you get whores (Alkey, Hybrid) who drive themselves up for fun. And someone who just joined, say, today might be intimidated by someone with thousands of posts.... or they may figure "I'll never get that many posts, so people won't bother respecting me, I'll just leave." My thought is, not to eliminate post counts, but instead of having them show up on every post, it goes into your profile. The benefit: post counts become less prominent as you actually have to go out of your way to click someone's profile to see their count. What do you guys think? O&A Board Veteran Registered: Aug. 00	It's ok to include me in that statement, I love and am proud of my post count. Call it silly or retarded. It's standard on any message board on the web to show your post count on every post. People who say they don't care from what I seen usually have less than 1,000 posts. Plus I agree with faceman that having mods who don't post much have 100 posts while say alkey has 3,000 is gonna look bad.

Without any guidance, what do we replace them with? Without any guidance, the choices become overwhelming. Sometimes it just makes everything feel hopeless. So we destroy our bodies in the search of an ideal. Try to salvage relationships that don't work. We feel we must do something, instead of doing something that we feel. It is the prison of self-imposed momentum, and the sad part is that we get used to it. It reminds me of a song I heard the other day. It's called "The Going Nowhere Fast." But the people I have met here have shown me another side of Nowhere. They've pointed out the beautiful irony that stagnation makes it easy to stop and smell the roses, if we just let it. What would we be if we had nothing to rebel against? Well we could finally be ourselves, the first group of people who stopped looking for the answers long enough to appreciate the questions. And all we have to do is to make our own Declaration of Independence. We can embrace the right to life and liberty by simply realizing that happiness exists -- not to pursue, but to accept. After that the only challenge would be to make sure with the rest of our lives that we weren't just another fad. I don't know, it's an idea. What do you think?

Not resetting the counts but also not having them out in the open on every post. Remember to think of it from the perspective of a newbie with no posts who doesn't KNOW that post count doesn't matter. I've seen it both ways on boards, but I've never participated on any board like I do with this one, so I wouldn't know how the board was affected either way. O&A Board Veteran Registered: Feb. 01	I enjoy having post counts visible, but I am willing to defer if there is enough support behind moving them. I believe in the Faith... that can save me. I believe in the hope and I pray... That someday it may raise me... above these badlands Over The Limit
