| O&A Board Regular Registered: Oct. 00  | NYU Is Tops in Pot Use, Politicking, Says Survey By JONATHAN LEMIRE Daily News Writer Apparently pot and politics mix, at least at New York University. The Greenwich Village-based school's student body ranked first in the nation in marijuana use and in political activity, according to the Princeton Review's annual national collegiate survey. Those at NYU were divided over the book's ranking of NYU as No. 1 out of 331 schools in the "reefer madness" category. "It's definitely political, and yeah, there are a lot of pot smokers at NYU," said Apurua Mehretra, a senior from Tennessee. "I'm a resident adviser, so I have to discipline it, but I don't sweat it too much, since it's pretty accepted around here." School officials, however, believe the Princeton Review is just blowing smoke. "We're dubious about all of those rankings that purport to grade colleges," said John Beckman, an NYU spokesman. "But this one takes the cake. The 'reefer madness' category is there just to sell books." NYU wasn't the only local school to place high in the book's 62 categories, which rank everything from cafeteria food to dorms to acceptance of the gay community. Cooper Union was rated as the toughest school in the nation to get into, as well as possessing the least athletic student body. The East Village school also has a reputation of housing teetotalers, according to the survey. "We're a bunch of nonathletic, totally sober nerds?" a Cooper Union sophomore, too embarrassed to let his name be used, said with a laugh. "Yeah, that's about right." Columbia University was ranked as having the country's third-best professors, and Fordham is reported to have the best collegiate radio station. Not all of the book's rankings were positive, however. Hofstra University students are listed as being the most dissatisfied with their school's financial aid program. "I'm disappointed in the publication and don't think it's very valid," said Mike DeLuise, a Hofstra spokesman. "But we'll look into it, just as we do with all student complaints." | ||||

| O&A Board Regular Registered: Jan. 01 | LMAO my friend goes to NYU and the first time we hung out there I was taken aback by all the drug use. I thought that the NYU student body would be more scholarly and less high...but I was terribly wrong....oh and by the way...I had a great time. My ex goes to Brandeis I am going to have to see what goes on there next. :) Side note...very happy to see my school is shockingly not getting any bad notes....Pace sucks when it comes to financial aid and raising the tuition. Although they did hire one hot ass teacher :)  why do I say I'm fine when it's obvious I'm not? why's it so hard to tell you what I want? why can't you just read my mind? | ||||

If anybody would like some pointers on good bars, etc please let me know. If anyone would like to have a Swiller/Stoner gathering in the area, let me know.
