| O&A Board Veteran Registered: Dec. 00  | The yahoo group is getting way too much traffic and I've recieved an email from yahoo threatening to shut it down. In order to cut down the amount of hotlink traffic, I've shut down membership to the group. If you're already there, don't worry. Life goes on. Nothing changes. You can still add sig pic files to group. Just follow the guidelines. The group WILL NOT BE ACCEPTING NEW MEMBERS. For those of you who need a sig pic group, fret not. I've created a second group. Here's the addy: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/OASigPicsII For those people that are cut/paste illiterate Visit this Website Same rules apply. 10 sig pics maximum. Keep em clean. Keep em small. U dont need AOL to do it either. u go to AOL.com scroll down and ull see homepages or somthing to that effect and then u can make a homepage in like a few minutes and there ya go. a place to host ur sigs. Every host that has been posted on the board has been shut down within a few months. Why not just share it with your friends without posting the host on the board? The bottom line is, I think this board generates way too much hot-link traffic to have a multitude of people using the same host.

| Hanger-On Registered: Jan. 70 | I didn't mean they were gonna get shutdown, I meant you will not be able to host sigs once they see the amount of traffic generated solely from hot-linking. I'm just trying to give what I think is solid advice. I can't be the only one that's noticed all of the red x's. Do what you want, post all the hosts you want. But, you can't blame them for pulling your account with the amount of traffic generated by hot-linking. Especially when they don't get any advertising or direct traffic from it.

Don't you think that Yahoo can see all of the traffic coming from here, no matter what group it's in? Again, my aim was to help people, not to slight you. I actually thought it was pretty cool of you to start a group like you did, I just don't want to see it get shut down because everyone here starts doing the same.

| O&A Board Veteran Registered: Dec. 00 | ADDENDUM A few people have gone ahead and opened their own groups. I think this is very cool. It'll help cut the hotlink traffic from the original group. However, I noticed that a few sig pics aren't showing. If you plan on opening your own group, you have to make sure of the following settings are right. To get to them, click on SETTINGS from the Admin window. On the right side of the screen, you'll need to change the following settings. Membership - Open or RESTRICTED. Do not, I repeat, do not choose BY INVITE ONLY. It locks the group up completely and you can't change it back Files / Photos - Select "PUBLIC". If you don't, no one other than yourself can see those pics. This is under "Features and Options".
