Psychopath Registered: Dec. 00 | I'm surprised no one posted this. Could be that maybe none of you care, but I kinda found it intersting. September 8, 2001 -- A strand of Jimmy Hoffa's hair was found in a car that his foster son was driving the day the legendary Teamsters boss vanished 26 years ago, sources said yesterday. FBI scientists made the bombshell breakthrough by using new technology to match the DNA in the strand to the DNA in hair taken from Hoffa's brush, the sources said. The hair strand was found in a 1975 Mercury Marquis Brougham that was driven by Charles "Chuckie" O'Brien - whom Hoffa took in as a child - on July 30, 1975, the day the powerful union leader disappeared. FBI technicians discovered the strand - along with specks of skin and blood - when they took apart the car's back seats eight days after Hoffa vanished. Specially trained sniffing dogs found Hoffa's scent in the car. Investigators and Hoffa family members have said that O'Brien was one of the few people who could have persuaded Hoffa to get into a car that afternoon. "This is startling news," Hoffa's son, James, said in New York while campaigning to hold onto the Teamsters' presidency. He said he confronted O'Brien after his father vanished and "he ran out of the room and I haven't seen him since. I haven't talked to him in 26 years and I don't intend to talk to him." Hoffa's daughter, Barbara Ann Crancer, who is now a St. Louis federal judge, said that O'Brien "was driving the car on the day my father disappeared. If my dad's hair was in the car." O'Brien, 66, who was drummed out of the Teamsters in 1990 for having mob connections, has repeatedly denied Hoffa was in the car. He did so again yesterday. "There's nothing to it. This is something that happened 26 years ago and there was nothing to it then and there's nothing to it now," he said. Hoffa, who ran the Teamsters from 1957 until 1971, disappeared from the parking lot of the Machus Red Fox restaurant in Bloomfield Township, a Detroit suburb, and is presumed dead. He was 62. His car was found the next day. The Detroit News, which first reported the DNA link, said the feds have met regularly in the past 11 months to discuss the case and decided to conduct the DNA tests in November. The feds hope to decide whether to prosecute someone no later than December 2003, the paper said. Hoffa had gone to the restaurant for a meeting with reputed Detroit mobster Anthony Giacalone and New Jersey Teamsters boss Anthony Provenzano. They never showed. O'Brien said he was using a car owned by Giacalone's son, Joe, because his own car had been repossessed. He said he was delivering a box of frozen fish to a Teamster official when Hoffa vanished. O&A Board Veteran Registered: Feb. 01 | Actually it's pretty interesting, I read about it this morning on Yahoo. The fact however that Hoffa's hair is in the car is not evidence that his foster son was involved in the disappearance. Psychopath Registered: Dec. 00 | This is very true, all in all though I'd really like to see this case get solved. There were like 3 stories about it in the Post today. I kinda do think that the stepson had something to do with it. That he was influenced by his mob connects to do in Hoffa.
