Once across, there are FREE buses waiting to take people to their destinations. I'll be leaving the office in about a half hour and heading for the Williamsburg. | O&A Board Regular Registered: Jan. 01 | I left my office on 50th street and 7th avenue today at 12:30.I walked from there all the way south to the staten island ferry.The whole walk just looking up at that big smoke cloud.It's just so unbelieveable.Who would of thought this morning while traveling on the ferry looking at the world trade center that this would happen a few hours later. | O&A Board Regular Registered: Oct. 00 | I work in midtown. I usually take NJ transit home. Because of all tunnels being closed, I took the ferry from NY Waterway on 38th Street to Hoboken. I cut about 12 NYC blocks of lines to near teh front. It still took me about 4 hours to get home. When we arrived at Hoboken we had to all get hosed off in case of asbestos or anything we may have come in contact with. There were doctors and nurses everywhere ready to help for anyone who needed it. Taking the ferry across teh Hudson and just seeing the clouds of smoke made me cry. It was really upsetting. I just thank god, that my wife who worked in 2 World Trade Center on the 92nd floor got a better job about 3 weeks ago. This really was unreal. If he is that young, in all actuality he probably was not in the WTC so if anything he is either a) stuck in traffic b) not able to go online because they want to keep the phone line clear or c) god forbid personally affected by this tradgedy. We were all evacuated but I saw a lot of it going down with my own eyes. Not fun. Walked up West street forever,... turned around to look back a couple of times.
