| Hanger-On Registered: Jan. 70  | As some of you know, I do construction on the new terminal for Amnerican Airlines. Now something I have been saying for quite some time is bugging the shit out of me to no end. The security at and around the job site is manned by men that from any glance look Arab. Am I the only person who does not see something extreemly wrong with this? Let's even overlook the fact that most Middle East countries are fed a steady diet of HATE for my beloved country. My point is that they do not do their jobs period. I have countlessly entered the "old" terminal with a wide range of different tools. Not a person checks my ID or asks me jack shit. I have entered said facility with a Hilti gon powdered powered nail gun and not even a blink from these assholes. I have made it through every single check point in the building and have never been stopped at all. And now people wonder how shit like this happens. If I felt inclined to bring a bomb to the hangers, no one would have ever stopped me. Hopefully that changes now. Sorry about the rant.  | ||||

Like you can't say you packed your bags when you are a terrorist yourself? And lets say you are a terrorist, and have, as some of the hijackers did, a boxcutter in your carry-on? Or something else non-metallic, which will pass through the metal detectors but can be just as deadly? Those questions did nothing. If you want to do something, and I mean permanently, like Anthony said, raise the ticket prices just a bit and provide Air Marshalls on ALL flights into and out of and in the United States. The flight crew didn't like the way they were acting and asked them to get off the plane. The 3 refused. When the flight crew call the police to remove them, the 3 vanished. | O&A Board Veteran Registered: Aug. 01 | I repair ATM machines and I've strolled in and out of Newark airport countless times with bags of tools. I've never been stopped while walking into the terminals and could have easily filled a toolbag with explosives, dropped it near an ATM, left the terminal, and made it home before anyone could realize that something was wrong before it would be too late. I guess something needs to be done, but I wish I had the answer. | ||||

| Hanger-On Registered: May. 01 | I heard someone on the radio with a great idea. Seal the bulkhead between the pilot's area and the rest of the cabin. Make the cockpit accessible only by the outside. Marshalls are a must, but if they cant get to the pilots without venturing outside at 36000 feet, they woont get anywhere.... | ||||

Historically, they found it amusing. I'm sure now they think it is nightmare. I'm sure the Labor Council and individual Unions will raise holy hell to get this access issue changed. And, like Sean is probably doing already, these guys will police themselves and make sure no one that does not belong on the job site is hanging around. Gonzo is right, fuck PC.  | ||||

Who here hasn't seen the people who are supposed to be watching the x-ray machine look like they would rather be home watching Oprah? As the boys said, everyone took everything for granted. I remember back a few years when they last hijaaked planes. Things changed briefly. And even then, security was different at different airports. Hell, just last year someone did a check on airport security and they found something like 60% of the time they were able to smuggle fake guns onboard.
