I feel terrible that I've remembered only now, but I think we should be thinking of some board members in the military -- TankGrrl24 and Gagootz...

I was just making headway today, trying to move on from this mess, when I remembered them. Guilt and sadness engulf me right now... Please pray everyone...

*hugs*

Due to injury, tankgrrl is no longer in the MP.

Gagootz leaves boot camp in about a week, and unless we are in full out war they will not send anyone straight out of boot into combat.

However, huge amounts of respect to anyone who does enlist and go fight for our nation. I know there are a few others in the millitary on the board, AFDude for one, and i hope all the best luck to them whatever should happen. Godspeed.

Don't forget AF Dude down in Lousiana...he was probably going to be sent to the MidEast this fall, looks like it may be sooner

I think the military is on lock-down now...imagine how they're feeling, just waiting for the call, with little or no interaction with people outside their bases...

This will have to be short...

I know y'all have been watching CNN, so you know most of what's going on. Personally I consider the firemen/cops/EMT's in NYC and D.C. the real heroes at the moment.

As for those of us in the military, all I can say here is we'll do what needs to be done.

Thanks.

Good Luck everyone. My prayers are with you. If any of you need anything, I'm sure I won't be the only one here willing to do what we can for you.

I was just going to edit my first post, but there isn't time. I appreciate all the e-mails I've gotten from board members expressing concern/asking what they can do to help.

Just pray for the families of those lost in the buildings, and the rescue workers. Back the President, Congress and the military...we're doing what we can.

wow, it had totally slipped my mind, but werent' we all joking when gagootz left. haha, wouldn't it suck for you if we went to war... just think, not even 3 months ago the thought of war was nothing but a joke.
well, as much as i'm against war, and i honestly thought i'd never say this, but, we need to strike, and my thoughts go out to all those who will be directly involved and affected when this happens, because it must...

I know what you mean CRX... I live in an old building and there's a bomb shelter in the basement. There's actually a sign on the front of the building stating this. I had a friend come by about 2 weeks ago and he joked about how if we ever went to war he was coming here...we laughed about it then but it freaks me out now when I think about it...

And the rockets' red glare, the bombs bursting in air,
Gave proof through the night that our flag was still there.
O say, does that star-spangled banner yet wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave.

Gone, but not forgotten

TankGrrl is on disability. She hurt herself in a work related accident, and I believe has been discharged.

She popped up in another thread yesterday (I think) and from what I gather, she is still very much an active member of the military.

She posted this in OASwallows thread on 9/15...hopefully at the very least this means her back is feeling better. Good luck Tank (and everyone else in the military) and thank you!

Im sorry I haven't been posting my latest wows. I have good reason. I am a soldier in the Army reserves and have been active since tuesday (9-11)
I am getting about 3 hours of sleep at night only to be back at 6 in the morning. Yes it is scary as shit. We're an MP unit and we are waiting for the word of what to do next. I look at the sky now in disbelief that in my 7 years of service we're fighting this on our own home turf. This doesn't feel like America to me. And yes complacency kills. We were all so worried about the death of humanity on New years eve 2000 and when nothing happened we assumed it wouldn't. This tragedy has claimed the lives of an estimated 40,000 people. As to what you can do: Get off your ass and bring a book with you to your nearest blood bank to donate( Its a 4 hour wait to donate). Any kind of shovels, coolers, canned goods, eye goggles medical supplies, anything is needed. They thought they could turn this into a state of chaos and confusion and cause everyone to go against their brothers. They are wrong. It has only driven Americans closer together. Together we stand, United we dust ourselves off, and kick some ass.
Pray for those who perished, and their loved ones and wish us luck.
