| O&A Board Regular Registered: Oct. 00  | September 13, 2001 -- WASHINGTON - President Bush is vowing to spend "whatever it takes" to help rebuild downtown Manhattan - and Sen. Charles Schumer said the president told him: "You have a blank check." Sens. Schumer, Hillary Rodham Clinton and other New York lawmakers flew to the city last night with Bush's disaster chief, Joe Albaugh, to inspect the damage and report back on what the city needs. Both Schumer and Clinton - often Bush critics - praised the president at a news conference at the 30th Street Heliport where the smell of smoke came from the wreck of the World Trade Center. "It's very clear that the attack on New York is an attack on America," Clinton said. Schumer, who called on all New Yorkers to fly the American flag from their windows in a show of solidarity, hailed Mayor Giuliani and Gov. Pataki. "I have heard from more than 20 senators that as bad as they feel about this, they feel relieved with people like Giuliani and Pataki down here in charge," Schumer said. The senator, who has been huddling with worried Wall Street leaders and urged that the stock exchange reopen quickly, said the problems range from how to avoid citywide brownouts to businesses trying to function after losing not just workers but tons of financial documents. Bush yesterday vowed: "We are prepared to spend whatever it takes to rescue victims, to help the citizens of New York City and Washington, D.C., to respond to this tragedy and to protect our national security." Meanwhile, the House and Senate, back in session under beefed-up security the day after the attacks, passed resolutions pledging to "stand united" behind Bush and the "process of recovering and rebuilding," and declared yesterday a national day of "unity and mourning." It likely will take billions of dollars to recover from the attack that reduced the Twin Towers of the World Trade Center to rubble, left the Pentagon in flames, and exposed gaping holes in U.S. anti-terrorist efforts. Members of Congress, who have been squabbling over the economic downturn said they'll find the money somehow. "It is our strong desire to do this, not as Republicans or Democrats, but as Americans," said Senate Democratic leader Tom Daschle. | ||||

| O&A Board Regular Registered: Oct. 00 | The only thing I can think of is something to do with my sig pics. Other than that I have no idea. If thats the case any admin or mod can delete anything that is inappropriate as i have no idea what I did. | ||||

| O&A Board Regular Registered: Oct. 00 | The sig pics I have been using no were not hotlinked. However, I will admit, I did hotlink a pic for a thread here and there fpr certain things. The last time I did that was early last week. Otherwise I was not using sigs. Now I have paintshop and am able to create my own and put them on my site. | ||||
