| O&A Board Regular Registered: Jan. 01  | Just wanted to share with you guys/gals something that happened yesterday.... I don't know if it was a religious experience, some kind of sign, a freaky coincedence, or just a mental tangent. Let me preface by saying I have never been religious.... I have never bought into superstition.... I have always prided myself on being pretty level headed and objective. However.... Yesterday I went outside for a cigarette after my company gathered in the atrium for its moment of silence/remembrance ceremony for Tuesday's attacks. First thing I saw when I got out there was what appeared to be a STARK white pigeon or dove of some sort strolling around on the ground. Don't know if he was domesticated, but he was tagged... perhaps used in another nearby ceremony and let go as a symbol of peace, maybe a variety of wild pigeon that was being tracked, maybe even a racing pigeon gone astray. Nevertheless, how often do you see a stark white pigeon?!!!! Strange thing is that he didn't appear to be able to fly. The other smokers outside were just as astonished to see such an animal, as we are used to the turkey vultures and ducks that frequent that area, let alone seeing a freaking white pigeon. Right after that, I saw a commercial jet airliner scream overhead... the first one I saw since Tuesday's tragedies. Before my eyes, I had the token symbol bird of peace which could not fly, and over my head was a symbol of the airborne 'war bird' that tore through our sense of security and souls two days earlier... finally allowed to fly after being grounded. Just got me to thinking.... at that point the rain let up, the sun came out, and it was the first feeling of calmness and clarity I've had all week. Maybe knowing that retribution is on its way, and that popular consensus of peace has been temporarily grounded. What do you guys think? Was it a sign? Freaky coincedence? Or am I thinking about it too much? Anybody else have any revelations/experiences like that over the past few days?

| Psychopath Registered: Sep. 00 | well, now that you mention it, funny thing happened to me tuesday,..i wa at my gf's house, evrybody is freakin obviously, including me...2:00 in the morning, i'm on my gf's terrace, just still numb from evrything that happened earlier- her apt. looks over times square- i look north, maybe northwest, towards central park... i see a shooting star... this might not be amazing unless you consider the fact it its almost impossible to see a shooting star in the night sky over NYC..... dont know what it means, but just wanted to share..... RIP RESCUE 1 AND LADDER 54....you are truly heroes of hell's kitchen...... | ||||

I don't think I was looking for meaning in the symbols as much as I was trying to gain meaning from the real events that were going on and trying to come to grips with my own opinion.
