Psychopath Registered: Nov. 00 ![]() | I saw it on Fox news. They are planning to build 4 towers, 50 stories each to replace the WTC. Personally, I say we let Trump build the world's biggest tower than he's been talking about for so long. And I know NY has to be rebuilt and all, but who the hell is thinking about building towers when there are still bodies amongst the rubble? ![]() Under the superior tutelage of FollowThisLogic "God may have mercy on you, but we won't." - John McCain This message was edited by Noellevious on 9-22-01 @ 11:36 AM

O&A Board Regular Registered: Aug. 00 ![]() | they've got a few months of cleanup to do before they can even seriously consider this, but the guy that leases the property is the the one that wants to build the four 50 story towers. truth is, it's going to be up to a commitee as to what will be done...![]() Zen and the Art of Message Board Posting

O&A Board Regular Registered: Jan. 01 ![]() | I really don't think they can plan anything just yet. First they have to remove all the rubble, which is going take a very long time. Then they'll have to rebuild everything that was under the Trade Centers ie:streets, subways. Once they have all that done they can start planning new buildings. I don't think any new buildings will be completed for at least ten years. ![]()

Psychopath Registered: Nov. 00 ![]() | You know,I don't want to sound paranoid, but wouldn't 4 50 story buildings make smaller targets than 2 110 story buildings? I mean, we KNOW there's a certain deek in Afghanistan who has a major hard-on for the WTC...... "A little song, a little dance, a little seltzer in your pants!"

Psychopath Registered: Oct. 00 ![]() | While it may seem callous to talk about rebuilding now, many (including many of the victim's families) see it as a way of healing, to show that the terrorists didn't win. Lou(?) Silverstein (who's Co. just bought a 99 year lease on the WTC) said that maybe 4 50 story buildings instead of 2 110 story (or higher) towers might be better, but nothing at all has been decided. In addition, they talked about the first 3 floors set aside as a memorial to each one of the victims. Personally (& many workers from Ground Zero),I would like to see a memorial made from pieces of the rubble & steel, set outside right around Ground Zero (maybe even called "Ground Hero") TO THE GUYS IN "THE HOLE": I'M WITH YOU DR. The rumours are that many big firms would NOT come back to these towers again, unfortunately, even with $$ incentives. I think this event is gonna change our way of life forever. O&A Board Regular Registered: Oct. 00 ![]() | quote: The major hard-on wasn't for the WTC itself at all. The hard-on was for the symbolism. The destruction of the TWO tallest objects on the New York skyline.... two of the most well known twin towers in the world... Building 50-story towers wouldn't even make a dent in the skyline. 7 WTC was 47 stories - but looking at NYC from a distance, could you pick it out? Did you know it was there at all? I know I couldn't. 50 stories is only 3 more.... that's like, maybe 40 feet between the 3. Point is, they wouldn't be targets. Hell, even if they were targets, they'd be really hard to hit with a plane, buried in there with every other building around it. I guess the thought behind 50-story towers is that they get the same amount of office space without having big-ass targets. That just means look out, midtown... cause if there's a next time, it's Empire State. ![]()

Psychopath Registered: Nov. 00 ![]() | Well, it's possible that the new tower could withstand a super-sonic jet. When the WTC was originally built, it could take on the fastest passenger planes of its time. Frankly, I wouldn't mind the 4 tower idea as long as it is the defining aspect of our skyline. Psychopath Registered: Nov. 00 ![]() | No matter what is built, I hope the roof have a couple of Marines manning an anti-aircraft battery. Also, here's another reason to like the 4 50 story idea. Firefighter would have easier access if something DID happen (God forbid). When I saw the first tower on fire, I kept remembering Steve McQueen in the Towering Inferno being really pissed that we kept building them higher and firefighters couldn't get to them. Psychopath Registered: Aug. 01 ![]() | quote: exactly right Perv. When they were built they were built to sustain a hit from a 727, probably the biggest commercial plane flying at the time. They were also built to withstand most any fire, but not one that was being fed by Jet Fuel.
