I thought it would be a good idea if we shared some of the Proggies that has made our lives easier PC-Wise, and to figure out what makes K1d so goddamn 1337. If you got any suggestions, please post them along with links. Here's my list.

Window Blinds- Add Skins to Windows, change the lay-out and whatnot. Not very useful, but aestically pleasing. Actual Skins can be downloaded here.

Trillian- Lets you use AIM, ICQ, IRC, MSN Messanger, and Yahoo Messanger all at once. VERY USEFUL, and you can apply skins to it. I use this now instead of AIM, yet i can talk to everyone on my buddy list.

Direct Connect- This is where i get everything. Movies, Appz, Warez, Gamez, Porn and Anime. They have everything. Connect to the right Hub and leech away.

Nero Burning Rom 5- Lets me make Audio, Bootable, and Other types of CD's (including VCD's). My main CD Burner program.

BulletProof FTP- Im not sure if this is the easiest FTP Client, but this is definetly my favorite one. Probably because i dont wanna learn how to use CuteFTP.

Winamp- Best Audio player out there. Period. And it's skinable. Plus it's free.

Morpheus- One of the best ways to get MP3's, or a decent alternative to Direct Connect if you dont want to learn how to use that.

WinRar- Similar to Winzip, but better compression rates. And for some reason, huge downloads sometimes come in RAR form, so you'll need this to join them together anyway.

Adobe Photoshop 6.0- If you dont know what this is, just fucking die. Seriously, please do it. You'll make the rest of us happier.

Google Toolbar- All the search power of Google.com without actually having to be bothered going there. INCREDIBLY USEFUL.

So, anyone else got any good programs? I'll post some more later, but it's 4am and im tired as fuck.

ACD Systems - The most useful tool that I use is located here ACD Systems.
There are actually two programs I use. ACDSee is a great image viewing program, but the gem of ALL gems is PicaView. What PicaView does is when you right click on an image file of ANY kind, it will show a thumbnail of the picture in the menu. It's fucking awesome for people like me who hate to have all their folders set to Web View. The only problem with this software is that it's not free. BUT....you can do like I did and find a crack for it on one of the many hacker sites out there.

WINMX - I also like WINMX for my downloads lately. It's an ok program. The best part about it is that it's SUPER easy to use. Some of the share programs out there are really difficult to use, and take a genius to configure. With this, you install and start downloading. Easy as that.

Seph,

I also love the Goolge toolbar. For those of you that like to use Yahoo, you might also love Yahoo Companion.

Some of my other favs:

Macromedia Dreamweaver - The best WYSIWYG HTML editor on the market.

Macromedia Fireworks - Easily create Java menus, buttons, icons, etc. for your website.

Macromedia Flash - Animated graphics for your website

phpBB Message Board - Free message board written in php with mySQL database backend.

Neato MediaFace II - CD label creator

MusicMatch Jukebox - MP3 jukebox, burner, etc.

Live Counter Classic - JAVA counter with cgi backup. Rolls over when other people view the page while you are viewing it.

Dynamic Drive - Cool free Javascripts.

I hope you don't run all that on Windows 9x. I've seen so many people download all this shit and they wonder why their system is slow or always crashing. Then I'm the one that has to fix it. Argh...

Anyway...

Van Dyke Tech's Absolute FTP... nice little FTP software. Plus it doesn't leave crap on your machine after you uninstall it. (Always nice, then you can just re-install it when time expires.)

Allaire's Homesite... For web development, ASP, Javascript, etc.

Macromedia Flash... It's scripting language blows, better in v5, but I'm glad to see Shockwave becoming more popular with its 3D stuff.

Sound Forge 5.x... Very nice audio editor.

Netscape 4.08... For the idiots who require that their webpage works on all browsers. Tools.

Seph, major kudos to you for the Google Toolbar! NICE!

Ad-Aware is a great little utility for cleaning out all that spy-ware you might get when installing some of the above-mentioned apps. Be warned that by removing the spyware, you might end up rendering the app unusable. Very handy, free, and there is also an app for automatically updating the referencefile (like an antivirus definition without having to go to the home page to check.

And in keeping with the maintanence theme, Norton System Works is a handy piece of software thats fixed countless Windows "blue-screen" crashes for me, and has a much more useful (and faster) disk-defrag utility than Windows provides.

Lastly, Zonealarm is IMO the best software firewall available. Its also free, doesn't eat up many resources, and is easy as hell to use. For those people on a broadband connection and not behind a hardware firewall/router, this is a must.

The entire Macromedia suite of products - I can't say enough about the best WYSIWYG editor (Dreamweaver), the best strictly code editor (ColdFusion Studio/Homesite), and who doesn't love Flash? Not to mention they own ColdFusion now, which is my product of choice when building database powered websites, they even have a kickass WYSIWYG editor for it, UltraDev.

WinMX - I haven't tried Morpheus yet so for all I know it could be better but as far as i'm concerned, Nap-who?

Alot of apps I love were already mentioned, WinAmp, Photoshop, CuteFTP, I actually prefer Roxio's EZ CD Creator over Nero.

For cam heads, WebCam2000 is great as well as AloeCam.

When it comes to design, Adobe Illustrator and Image Ready rock.

Thanks for turning me on to Trillian, I used to use Odigo and this thing looks cooler since it has IRC built in.

Well other than some of the others mentioned.

WinAce-It's similar to WinRar but I prefer it.

Maya-This is probably the best video editing programs out there. Of course it costs money but do any of us pay?

Blind Read-This program is especially helpful in creating iso files.

Clone CD-Creates perfect copies of cd's. This is especially helpful with cracking copy protection.

Anonymity 4 Proxy-If you are a privacy freak like me it's useful. Too bad I'm too lazy to use it lol.

Download Accelerator Plus-Speeds up your d/l speed by opening multiple connections

Eudora-My choice for best e-mail viewer. Beats the shit out of Outlook and Outlook Express.

Opera-The best fucking browser on the planet.

Edonkey2000-Pretty good file sharing prog.

Gamespy-The BEST prog for servers of practically any multiplayer game. Much better than using the in-game server software in CS or whatever you are playing.

Mirc-Lots of movies and warez on here. Nuff said.

Partition Magic-The easiet tool for taking control of your hard drive partitions.

Serials 2000-This prog has thousands of serial numbers.

Advanced Zip Password Recovery-Zip files have passwords you can't break use this prog.

I think that's enough for now lol.

Just a quick question on Direct Connect. I can't get it to work right under active mode(router) and passive mode sucks so what port should I force it to accept.

Tell me about it, at least with 2K now its a little easier, but win NT4, people dont understand why their games wont work.

Timbuktu-Remote control software that is really easy to use over either a network or the Internet

PC Anywhere-Same idea, but from symantec(people who make Norton), and its more secure.

I cant wait to get my basement finished after just moving into my new house, and then my FTP will be back up. I have all this stuff and more.
