O&A Board Veteran Registered: Feb. 01 | An interesting thing happened to me today. I lost my wallet. Not knowing that the back pocket of my gym shorts was torn and unstitched, I accidentally placed my wallet in my pocket only to have it slipping silently to the ground behind me. By the time I realized what happened, it was too late. After a good amount of time searching and asking around, it was obvious that I was at the whim of a stranger. My cash, credit cards, driver's lisence, social security card, ATM card, etc. were all in someone else's care. The best I could hope for was that it had fallen into the hands of an honest person. I was lucky, within 10 minutes I had learned that an honest young girl had picked up my wallet only seconds after I had lost it, and it was back within my possession within a few hours without any missing dollars, cards, or information. But it raised an intersting question that everyone has asked, but is never really sure they can answer. If you found a wallet full of cash would you return it? Having this happen to me, and know how worried and crazy it drove me, there is no way I couldnt get it back to them as quickly as possible. But would you be able to say the same? I believe in the Faith... that can save me. I believe in the hope and I pray... That someday it may raise me... above these badlands This message was edited by Froy on 10-16-01 @ 8:17 PM

O&A Board Regular Registered: Oct. 00 | I would return it. Just for the fact that I know how hard it is to get important documents replaced. When I was a teenager though I found a ladies wallet with about $100 in it. I kept the cash and dropped the wallet in a mailbox. *edit* Last year I lost one of my credit cards without even knowing it. Imagine my surprise when my mailman brought it in saying it was in the mailbox outside the post office. Kinda restored my faith in humanity. 2 POSITIONS OPEN FOR ADOPTEES [ AIM ] [ ICQ ] [ E-Mail ] "Ahahahhahaha...How sweet...Fresh meat!" - Robert Englund "Could you bend me over the console & say that?" - Jim Norton This message was edited by av8er on 10-16-01 @ 8:18 PM

O&A Board Regular Registered: May. 00 | It depends on my mood. If I'm pissed I'd take the cash and mail back all of the cards. If I'm in a good mood I'd go and give it all back if I could. You can take cash, but if you try to use someone elses ATM or Credit cards you are asking for trouble.

Psychopath Registered: Aug. 01 | When I was a youngion, I found a wallet with over $200 dollars in it. My friend, convinced me that we should keep the money and split it. I spent the money on video games and tapes(yes kids, this is before there was CD's.) I remember I bought Mike Tysons Punch Out and a M.O.D(Method Of Destruction) CD. At that age, I must of been evil because I remember no feeling of guilt. When I was in college I drop a bank envelope with $375 in it. My name and account number was on it, I had just cashed my check and had the bank slip wrapped around the money which was tucked inside this envelope. I was all my beer money for 2 (TWO) whole weeks....I was bumming. I blame Karma Just about a year ago I found a wallet full of credit cards and about 150 in cash. I thought about taking the money and somehow returning the wallet but after listening to the little voices I called the guy and returned the whole thing. I had a feeling deep down inside I should have kept the money.

Psychopath Registered: Oct. 00 | I guess i'm just a scumbag at heart. A couple of years ago, i left Mulcahy's on the island, and grabbed a cab home. The guy getting out of the cab that i was about to get into dropped his wallet on the back floor. I was too far away to stop the cab and return it when i found it, so i took the 86 dollars in cash, and dropped the wallet with all the guys cards in it, in a mailbox, cause i knew it would find it's way back to the owner. Okay, maybe i'm just half-a-scumbag. God loves you.it's everyone else that thinks you're an asshole. Posting regularly, yet still a lowly lurker. Check out my band at www.4inthachamber.com

O&A Board Regular Registered: Oct. 00 | well, if there was a huge amount of money i'd probably try to talk myself into taking some of the cash, you know, if you can afford to carry around hundreds of dollars in cash, would you really miss $50? then again, my damn guilty irish catholic background would cause me to give it back with nothing removed, then just hope for some kind of kick back. but as far as credit cards and licenses go, they're such a pain in the ass to replace so i'd definitely make the effort to return them even if there wasn't any cash in the wallet.
