O&A Board Regular Registered: Oct. 00 | Well, graduation is slowly creeping up on me and i'm thinking of moving and working in Manhattan instead of going back upstate. Respiratory Therapist supposedly start at around 55-60K there and hospital housing is available so i don't think the cost of living will be an issue. But i was wondering what those of you that currently live there or lived there in the past, think/thought of it.. Does it quickly become a "nice place to visit, but wouldn't want to live there" kinda thing? "Where the HELL have I been?" [Insert witty/profound sig line here] (Forgot how to store sig pics.. Bored? Then remind me) This message was edited by HummerLovin on 10-17-01 @ 5:51 PM

O&A Board Regular Registered: Oct. 00 | well, i only lived in the city for about 9 months and i loved it. i'd still be there now if rent wasn't so ridiculously outrageous. so, if that's not an issue, i say go for it.quote:well, this is not necessarily true. personally i never used cabs and rarely used the subway. granted, being poor i found it perfectly acceptable to walk a mile or two to work everyday, but if that's not for you, well, you get a metro card. i'm in queens now and although i don't go out too often, when i do, i go to the city and if i'm out late, i usually end up taking a cab home, which, costs money. plus not having everything conveniently close, i bought a car, albeit a shitbox, when you add in insurance and gas and everything, if you can get a place with cheap rent, it'll probably work out cheaper to live in the city. of course it all depends on the type of person you are too. where i lived was only about 10 minutes from times sq, but other than the rushour traffic it really wasn't all that loud or busy. An invasion of armies can be resisted, but not an idea whose time has come. --Victor Hugo regardless of my status, i am a nice person. no really, i am, i swear;) crack hitler belongs to me :) need me? try: [email protected]
