| O&A Board Regular Registered: Dec. 00  | I was just wondering, because of all the craziness going on, are you taking your kids Trick-or-Treating this year, or just only to houses where you know the people who live there? The reason I ask this is because I was just forwarded this...and it actually has some ring of truth to it. (didn't you know everything you read on the Internet is true lol) Just want you guys to be aware... Is this site reliable? http://www.snopes2.com/rumors/candy.htm (someone show me how to make a new window link :)) It's unfortunate, however, that someone of Arab decent can't even go into the store and buy candy (maybe he's starting a business) without becoming a suspect  We Have Not YetBegun To Fight NEVER FORGET!!! We cannot let these people terrorize us and ruin our way of life, but we need to be cautious. Don't let your kids go out alone, and make sure you check ALL of their candy thoroughly before they eat it. We used to have to worry about razor blades in the candy when I was a kid, now we have to worry about Anthrax in the candy. What a fucked up world we live in.  | ||||

| O&A Board Regular Registered: Jan. 01 | Linking for Spitfire I don't have kids yet, but I spoke to a neighbor of mine last night and she said she intends on taking her two daughters out for trick-or-treating early, and that any candy she recieves that isn't wrapped will immediately be thrown away. I suppose if someone wanted to go through the trouble of tainting wrapped candy like Milky Ways or something they could do it, but its kind of scary to think that it could happen. I'll be sure to mention this to her tonight when I see her. I agree Maynard, it has gotten to the point that anything can kill you - or at the very least, have the potential to kill you, because people are just absolutely fucked up. | O&A Board Regular Registered: Jul. 01 | They are around here, regardless of recent threats; even though I am in Wisconsin, we have had our share of threats and hoaxes, including the local post office being closed down today due to an anthrax scare. Snopes does very well in distinguishing fact from fiction. However, you're correct, spit; I used to work in a wholesale store, and people would come in all the time and buy huge amounts of candies and other items for their own small businesses. Also, since their customers usually paid cash, they'd turn right around and use those profits to run over to our store and pick up more supplies, so it was fairly common to have one of these guys count off thousands of dollars to pay for their purchases. However, with things being the way they are now, it's understandable that people are on the watch for anything that can be even remotely construed as terroristic actions. I'd make a run to BJ's and just buy a shitload of candy for them to devour. Or better yet just give them a bag of sugar to slurp on. That'll make em happy. To me T&Ting has got lamer and lamer each year.

The practice by us has always been never to eat anything that's not wrapped plus we inspect it all too. The sick fucks you guys are worried about have been there long before the WTC disaster. I'm more worried that one of them will get hit by a car or fall down the stairs that they run up and down going door to door. My girls get one piece of candy as they are T or Ting and it's like fucking jet fuel to them. | ||||
