![](images/whois.gif) | I know new policy dictates the end of news threads but this is too good of news to not post. The Afgan opposition have won a key battle and taken the city of Mazar-e-Sharif.
GOD BLESS AMERICA!!!

![](images/whois.gif) | If the northern opposition can, for the moment, weaken the Taliban and hang around long enough as to not have to witness any American soldiers get killed (for now), then they're doing us a huge favor.

![](images/whois.gif) | Does the Taliban retreats from Kabul running with their turban tails between their legs count as the Northern Alliance taking Kabul?
Whats Dubya to do? Things are moving way to fast for him.

![](images/whois.gif) | Ok, now I have seen that the Taliban forces ran away, and that the Northern Alliance has moved in, but does this mean that the Taliban is now on the run, or are they going to set up camp in a different city? What is going to happen as far as a government in the country? Has any news outlet said anything? I am at work, and can't get to the bbc in order to find out the truth rather than the us news...

![](images/whois.gif) | I just do not trust the Northern Alliance. Something is a little fishy with them that once we help them overthrow the taliban, they will turn their backs on us.

![](images/whois.gif) | I watched a bit of O'Reilly last night, and he had on a couple of military types - one of the concerns is that the Taliban is headed south where the majority of their forces are and that they will scatter into the hills where they will be harder to hit than they were when they were sitting right in the city. As far as who's going to be in charge, that's what they're trying to figure out now. It's certainly not over, even if the Taliban army is in fact collapsing.

Would this not be fair seeing as we basically have turned our back on them as much as we could have over the last 5 weeks? We don't trust them either. They are the less of the two evils for now.

There’s a policy for this? Threads that actually have responses that are somewhat logical and meaningful are banned? LOL

I believe that the Taliban outlaws any reference to love or passion. Therefore the proper reference would be "Praise Froy, Froy is all merciful, Froy is great".

![](images/whois.gif) | This is where the war'll get tough for a few reasons
*Winters comin up.
*The Northern Alliance don't really have enough soldiers to take the whole country so their pretty much stuck in the north.
*Pakistan wanted to play a huge role in the new Afghan govt, and the Northern Alliance wants nothing at all to do with them. And now that they already took control of the capitol, getting that govt. in place will be tough.
*Like Mom... said, the Taliban are now scattered in the hills and will be harder to hit.
*Finally, we don't have the army to take the Taliban in the south like we had up north, so we might have to send a decent # of our own ground troops.

![](images/whois.gif) | The Northern Alliance will eventually probably turn on each other because the Northern Alliance are made up of different "tribes/ethnic groups" etc. But, I believe by the end of this month all of Afghanistan will be under control of the Northern Alliance, and all of Afghanistan will be liberated from the hands of the Taliban.

![](images/whois.gif) | I'm simply asking what will be the new regime of Afghanistan when the Taliban is ousted. When America has supported revolutions in the past it's been to put people who support us in power no matter their domestic policy. Will American forces stay and see that human rights are kept intact in new Afghanistan or will they just leave the NA to their own devices in forming a new government providing it supports the US.
