Just had my 10 year high school reunion last night and I was wondering if y'all out there think these things are a waste of time. It's still too early to see a lot of changes, and a lot of the same BS cliques back then stuck around last night. I walked into the room and it was like I was stepping back into the cafeteria. All the memorabilia and pictures were of the same people, over and over again. Not to mention the music was pretty sucky. Just looking for some reflections from the other board members on this and if they agree or actually had a good time at thier respective reunions. On another note, I hope everyone enjoyed thier Turkey Day...

I've got my 10-year coming up next summer and it's weird but I can't wait. My main reason for going is I want to catch up and see what all my freaky classmates have been doing with themselves, and see who has done the craziest crap in the past 10 years.

There's always the "Fuck you all" factor too. It will be nice going back as a married guy with a house and a great job and paycheck, etc. etc. I know for a fact that many of my friends haven't even left home yet, nor gotten "real jobs."

We'll have to see though, should be interesting, the curiousity kills me.

Thank you to all the brave volunteers who brought us all together as a country,
and thank you to those of you brave soldiers who will fight and have fought for our country.

i am dreading my high school reunion and i'm not even out of it one year. I mean I'd go just to see what the people are doing but if i'm still a jobless, virginal loser when i'm 28 i'm probably going to kill myself first.

Of course I can always lie about my status in life.

I fall into the category of not wanting to see the people I disliked having made it in life or having to see me fail.

What sucks for me is I am going to college with a lot of the people I went to high school with, so all my failures will get back to the people I hate/hated me.

Major let down. All the hot chicks had kids and ballooned up, though they still thought they were hot which was funny.

Just keep up with who you want to, and let the rest go.

Just a few years from my 20 year reunion, man that could be real scary.

If ya want to have some fun... go to Classmates.com... register as one of your classmates and/or present friends (just find out a li'l bit about them during their school days)... go to their message board, and start making shit up. Escalate the stories (with-in reason) as they get closer and closer to their reunion date.

This way you can hear (at least if you do this with a present friend) about their "experience" at their reunion.

High School Reunions my ass. I hated just about everyone I went to school with and trusted no one. From what I have seen allot of those assholes have 2 or 3 kids by now, and are collecting welfare. They are probably so ignorant they have no idea they are leading fucked up lives.....fucking freaks.

Ughh...the only way I am going to my high school reunion is if I'm drugged and taken there by force. Only thing that sucks is I went to high school with my best friend and she's so going to drag me....thankfully 2007 is a ways away...but I'll only be out of law school a year by then and probably not working....hmmm maybe I should just wait for the 20 year reunion when I'm not going to be unemployed and living at home...either that or I can rent Romy and Michelle's High School Reunion and act like they did.. :)

When I have the unfortunate displeasure of running into someone I went to high school now, I can't stand how fake they act. I didn't like them when I was in high school, and I won't like them in a few years when it is time for the reunion. So why should I subject myself to the torture of hanging out with them?

I went to my 10-year reunion. I actually had a pretty good time. It was funny because all of the really popular girls in high school looked really old and used up. Most of the really geeky girls in high school had blossomed, at least to some extent. Most of the popular, jock guys had beer bellies, fat necks and bald heads. Being that I was neither popular, nor geeky in high school (I was in-between, which made things really hard to fit in), and being that I came out of my shell in college and looked a hell of a lot better than when I was in high school, I got a big kick out of seeing everyone.

I was surprised how many people actually married other people from my class. People you never would have thought would have gotten together.

Everyone was pretty friendly, or at least moreso than in high school, and it didn't seem too superficial. Of course, there were still cliques, but that's everywhere.

I'm still debating if I'm going to attend my 20-year...but that's still a little while away. Guess I'll wait and see where I'm at in life at that time before I decide.

I'm with you on this...sign me up for that rental too! :)

My ten year reunion will be in ten years. I am sooo glad high school is over for me, high school was okay for me, there were bad times and good times. Some of the bad times, I would like to forget. But, now I'm in college and have a lousy job. But, so far in my first semester I've really screwed up, I haven't shown up to most of my classes, I just feel so bad wasting my parents money.....anyways back to the topic, I honestly probably won't show up to my 10-year reunion, (unless I'm a multimillionaire;))

God Bless America. Land that I love. Stand beside her, and guide her, Thru the night with a light from above. From the mountains, To the prairies, To the oceans, White with foam. God bless America. God Bless America, Land that I love, Stand beside her, And guide her, Through the night, With the light from above, From the mountains, To the prairies, To the ocean, White with foam, God bless America, My home sweet home. And with that "Go get' em attitude" you're SURE to become a multimillionaire.

If it helps you any, Bill Gates was a freshman dropout... of HARVARD.

So unless you're thinking of starting up a multinational corporation right now I would say that it might not be such a bad idea to, oh, go to your classes?

I just don't get why some people when given the task of being pseudo-responsible for themselves for probably the first times in their lives just seem to screw it up so badly.

...or maybe I'm just becoming an old fart? That sounds about right.

Thanx for the feedback everyone. One thing I didn't mention. The more things change the more they stay the same. Back in HS there were people who wouldn't give me a second glance but would always say..Turk you got a smoke?? or Turk you got a light?? These SAME PEOPLE did it to me AGAIN last night!!!!

I suffer from a similar but opposite problem. I don't care but I still do the work and go to classes because I just accept it and go along with it. It's going to do me well when I'm a disillusioned cubical dweller in 4 years.

Jesus, did everyone here get beat up and picked on every day? Does everyone look back on high school with as much animosity and hatred as is shown in this thread? It couldn't have been THAT bad, could it?

I went to my 5 year a couple years back, and I had a blast. Class of 300 and about 1/3 showed up for the reunion. No one brought a date or a wife, which was surprising.

No talked about work much, and it wasn't the competition I thought it was going to be. The whole night was just telling stories from high school. Stories about getting drunk, almost arrested, fights, admitting lies and crushes, all that high school shit.

My ten year will be in two years. I think that one will be more wives, kids, and shit, but the five year was great. It was amazing how retardedly hot the random obscure girl had become. The hot cheerleaders were still hot for the most part (some even hotter, some not so much) but WOW some girls blossomed

And God, I wasn't a popular guy in school by any stretch of the imagination, but I can't imagine hating it so much that I'm still venting about it 10 years later.

What... the reality that their house is at least 2/3 paid off and they have no more car payments on their 10 year-old cars?

I am thinking that by the 10 year mark you're starting to see some good, general trend lines developing for folks. Sure, not all will find their way, but those who have their heads on straight by the 10 year will likely have them on by the 20 year, too.

But hey, vengeance and spite are great things, don't let me stop you from spreading it! :)
