Bruce Willis was dead the whole goddamn movie.

You're all living proof of why Abortions should be mandatory in some cases. We should Enslave the retards and use them to build our Utopia. After that, we'll just put a bullet in their mis-shapen skulls. Or throw them in ovens, whichever is cheaper.

Seph, you were joking, but seriously the last half of the movie was a dream that Tom Cruise signed a contract to be a part of. Penelope Cruz dumped him when he was drunk on the street. The rest was all a dream. The movie blew and I hated to have to go see this movie with my wife. She hated it too.

Actually if someone told me the ending I would probably enjoy the movie more...the fact that I was confused until the ending sucked, so going into the movie knowing the ending might let you enjoy the movie more than trying to figure out what the hell is going on throughout the whole thing...

What the fuck did Gang do to this thread?

Anyway, I saw it and wasn't impressed. The "It was all a dream" ending was bland and even the Lucid Dream explanation was itself lame.

It wasn't an awful movie. The performances were pretty good especially Russell, Diaz and of course Brodieman. It could have been cut a bit and made into a pretty interesting psychological study OR great, confusing 'what the hell really happened' movie. 2.5/4 is a positive review, right?

Oh and who played the REALLY REALLY hot receptionist at LE?

I just saw it and have another angle for you...

The very last moment was Tom's eye and a voice saying "open your eyes..." (the re-occuring statement...

What if...THE ENTIRE MOVIE WAS A DREAM!?
There was no accident, no murder, no Sofia, no mask, no LE, no cygenics lab...nothing. It was all a dream.

What do you think of THAT?

Thanks to Grumpy for his help with the sig.

What do you mean What If? Barry, that's how I interpreted it. The entire movie was a dream and I found it a cop out stupid ending. (And even if they didn't have that final 'open your eyes' scene it was still overly explained)

Ok....the ending preludes to the sequel Chocolate Sky. It shows a shit load of planes in the sky with thousands of Moolies jumping out to take over the world. Whitey...get your pick up's ready and get out your ropes.

i thought it was pretty decent, although there was quite a bit of "what the fuck?" going on throughout. i'm not sure what you mean though ikea. are you saying that you took the whole le part to be a dream too? cos i thought of that as a secondary possibility.

i figured their explanation of the whole cryo dream thing was what the audience is supposed to accept and that at the end he's waking up 150 years in the future. although, my thoughts were, that the ending could be taking place at any point, maybe the explanation part is a dream and he's still in jail. maybe the whole jail part is a dream. maybe he's waking up in hospital right after the accident? who knows? i guess i'm just a sucker for movies that don't really have a conclusion. well, that and the whole romance that was meant to be but never was story.

the two ways of interpreting it was him awakening out of LE or it being an entire dream. The reason I thought of the latter was because I thought he looked like he was in a bed at the final 'open your eyes' thus making the entire movie a dream. But I did notice the vanilla sky sky effect at various points in the film. And even if it was true with the entire LE/LD thing, they explained it too much. The entire elevator was virtually explanation spelling everything out.

If he's waking up in a hospital his Lucid Dream wouldn't he be cryogenically frozen?

Gahh Damn, Snuka, it was a breath of fresh air reading your post in the midst of all this whining about a very decent movie that to me was in the same vein as David Fincher's - The Game. I was totally pissed off watching The Game, but that's what movies should do, right? They should invoke emotion on some level. I guess most people like the bland action flick no-thinking movies that are the usual summer fare.

I give this movie 3.25 stars out of 4!

Write To Me Here

I think it all started with the Declaration of Independence -- the idea that we had the inalienable rights of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. That pursuit is what took America from the revolution to the computer age in 200 years. But the progress has come at a price. The obvious being the people that were exploited to make it possible; the not so obvious being us, the first group of people that were given no obvious frontiers to conquer. We hear stories that about the good old days that don't seem to apply anymore. It's a generation gap that leaves us without role models. But the bright side is that without role models, there are no roles. Maybe that's what the 60s were all about -- getting rid of the roles. But what do we replace them with? Without any guidance, what do we replace them with? Without any guidance, the choices become overwhelming. Sometimes it just makes everything feel hopeless. So we destroy our bodies in the search of an ideal. Try to salvage relationships that don't work. We feel we must do something, instead of doing something that we feel. It is the prison of self-imposed momentum, and the sad part is that we get used to it. It reminds me of a song I heard the other day. It's called "The Going Nowhere Fast." But the people I have met here have shown me another side of Nowhere. They've pointed out the beautiful irony that stagnation makes it easy to stop and smell the roses, if we just let it. What would we be if we had nothing to rebel against? Well we could finally be ourselves, the first group of people who stopped looking for the answers long enough to appreciate the questions. And all we have to do is to make our own Declaration of Independence. We can embrace the right to life and liberty by simply realizing that happiness exists -- not to pursue, but to accept. After that the only challenge would be to make sure with the rest of our lives that we weren't just another fad. I don't know, it's an idea. What do you think?

I thought the concept of the movie was very good, and I especially enjoyeds that it didn't have the "everyone is happy" ending, but I thought they could have done it better. For a large portion of the movie we had no idea what was going on. They should have left it that way to a point, and not given SO much explanation.

If you're talking about the redhead and not the older woman (Tilda Swinton) - that was Alicia Witt, one of my personal favorites. I'm disappointed in you, ETBoy!
There was a quick-cut shot of long red hair earlier in the movie, and I was saying, boy I hope that's Alicia Witt...

I learned that after posting it already Dan-O and she is also one of my favorites since the Cybil Shepherd show I watched a couple of times just for Alicia Witt. God she's amazing. And also, D-Girl.

Just another one of the really, really hot red heads to chalk up on the list.
