I plan on entering the 21rst century and buying a cell phone in the next couple of weeks. So far the Voicestream deals look to be the best ones, as do the Nokia phone they come with. Can you guys help me out with your cell phone experiences? Thanx!!!

Dont get voicestream they have the worst service. My friend is a limo driver..drives all over the island and the city and got rid of his voicestream phone because it would never have a good signal. I have one of those little nokia phones and its great though :-)

What are we gonna do about this?

I have Verizon, lots of people bitch about them, but I hardly have any reception problems, and I got a cool little motorola phone, vibrates or rings like a pager, battery never dies. I don't have email or web access on it, but to be honest, didn't want any of that - I get enough of it at work and at home. I have heard a lot of people complain about Voicestream, used to be omnipoint I believe, and that in itself was a cluster-f of a cell company.

I got VoiceStream and I have never had a problem with them. I got an Ericsson flip phone that's hasn't given me any problems either. But the Nokia phones are really good.

Voicestream has a chip in the phone
that can be removed and inserted in other voicestream phones
so if you get a new phone
dont have to reenter any phone#'s
GRKQT what At&t service do you have?
My ex-GF has at&t and her phone is email capable but at&t does not offer email service

I have Verizon. From what I can tell, they have the best coverage from Virginia to Maine. I have the 700 minute North east plan for 59.95, and an Audiovox cheap phone. Has long battery life, and can be drop-kicked across a parking lot and still works.

I used to have AT&T, and the reception sucked. I had verizon for a while...not too bad. Now I have voicestream with the little tiny nokia and I can't really complain. No service is perfect, but the coverage is good and the phone is the size of my beeper and weighs less! :) I get 600 minutes + 2000 night and weekend + 1st incoming min free. for 40/month.

Thanx everyone for the input, I think I'll go with the plan Redstripe has. I'll even pay an extra $5 a month if Jamie Lee Curtis never does another ad for them.

Motorola Star Tac is the worst piece of shit phone on the planet. Do not waste your money. The services with the phone chip, where you buy time as you go are really good, especially because there is no bill to deal with.

Brownstone,
I work for Voicestream, and you will get good service, depending where you live. Voicestream works off of GSM technology, which is what Europe uses for there cellular connections. It is just taking off in the U.S., so you will get some really bad spots where there is no service. But overall, you will get a really good price plan, and the service is good in most places..

I've got the Voice Stream and the Nokia and the service gets a little warbbled at times, more so than my old SprintPCS service, but the price is cheaper and the phone is a hundred times better.
