O&A Board Regular Registered: Oct. 00 | great movie. I won't say any spoilers but it was worth seeing it. The first 30-40 minutes was a little slow with them back home but things picked up. I really enjoyed this movie.

O&A Board Veteran Registered: Feb. 01 | I really want to see it, I don't know if I could take Mel Gibson's crappy fake Southern accent for two hours though. I believe in the Faith... that can save me. I believe in the hope and I pray... That someday it may raise me... above these badlands Over The Limit

O&A Board Regular Registered: Jan. 01 | So it today. It was very good. The first 40 minutes or so isn't slow there's just no killing yet. I usually dont like long movies. But it went quickly, the war scenes of very well done and Mel Gibsons accent wasn't to bad. The only thing that bothered me about this movie is that the scenery doesnt really look like Nam. I didnt see one freaking rice patty the whole movie.

Psychopath Registered: Oct. 00 | The early part of the movie was made good by the comments of the tall right hand man guy of Gibson. He cracked the whole audience up. The movie towards the end was great... but why do they feel the need to give gibson closeups ever other scene? "Now the seasons over, and I feel it gettin' cold. I wish I could take you to some sandy beach road, we'ed never grow old. Ah but baby you know thats just jive, but tonight's bustin' open and.... I'm alive!"~Bruce Springsteen (Thunder Road Est. 1973)

Hanger-On Registered: Dec. 01 | Believe it or not, that tall guy is Sam Elliot. Quite a way from Roadhouse! i thought the movie was great. The beginning of the movie was necessary to bring the impact home later when some guys bought it. As far as Mel Gibson, I was impressed with his Southern accent. Not as good as Costner's English accent in Robin Hood, but close. By the way, not to nitpick, but the Central Highland of vietnam look like the scenery in the movie. not all of Vietnam is Rice Paddies.

O&A Board Regular Registered: Jan. 01 | quote: My comment was just an observation, the scenery was the first thing i noticed in the opening sequence. I haven't been to vietnam so i really dont know what each part looks like. Bur in the movies vietnam doesn't look so godamn dusty.lol. And as for Sam Elliot he was really entertaining. My question is did he actually shoot anyone with the pistol?

Psychopath Registered: Dec. 01 | There was a bit of a lag before they were shipped off to Nam. I understand that they want to develop the characters to give them a certain depth of humanity, but it could have been trimmed down a bit. I actually cringed a few times at some of the combat scenes. It's pretty hardcore.
