| O&A Board Veteran Registered: Aug. 00  | i know many of us have had some wild things happen to us take one or two things that have really made you look back on your life and say, "wow i really have to shape up,i only live once" i think the thing that did it for me was when i broke my leg. it was january of 98, i was running home from school. for some reason i didnt stop running and i kept on going, right into the street. thank god i blacked out before the car actually hit me, i cant imagine how painful it wouldve been if i was awake. according to the police report i flew backwards 22 feet and i landed underneath another car, which was stopped at a red light. when i came to i really didnt know what happened to me, i was in a state of shock so it hadnt accured to me that i was in any kind of pain. its a scary feeling laying there knowing you got hit by a car. i couldnt feel my leg and it was cold. a few people rushed over to me to see if i was ok. i remember looking to the side and seeing blood, from my head, running down the street. it took the amublance 45 minutes to get to me. i was in a daze well into the night, until i got into the room to wait to get into the ER which didnt happen for a while. Im not going to get into the 1 week in the hospital, the 1 week at home, the 5 months on crutches, and the months and months of physical therapy. all i know is that breif moment of getting hit by a car changed my life forever. i cant play soccer anymore my leg is all fucked up i have a pin and four screws my nerves are messed up i look back on what happened to me and realize just how lucky i am to be alive right now, you never know when something will happent to change your life forever *edit*i forgot to mention, i had a concusion and i still have a bump on the back of my head from when it hit the street WHATEVER FTL ------------------------------------------------------------  I LOVE THE SLASH and THE CRACK HITLER and the REE FROSTY IS MY HERO and AUSTIN DESERVES AN OSCAR This message was edited by WNEWs GIRL on 3-7-02 @ 11:17 AM | ||||

| O&A Board Regular Registered: Aug. 01 | I was in a bad car accident 3 months after getting my license. I was stopped waiting to make a left down my street. Some bitch rammed me from behind doing about 60. My car flew forward and started going into oncoming traffic. I couldn't move for some reason except my left arm. I jerked the wheel and went to the other side of the street. I just laid their in a daze and had no idea what happened. My car was totaled and I was taken to the hospital. I found out that my back was screwed up and I popped 2 disks in my neck. I had to go to PT for month's and I still have to go to therapy to this day when needed. I use to run cross country and track in HS, which I was unable to do. I was going for a scholarship in which I wasn't able to go for since I couldn't run. It sucked and I was very depress about it for a while. Now I have totally change my life around and go my ass back to the gym. I can do all I could but I can do some stuff. I live life to the fullest and love to have a good time. I am very happy and have a great personality. Now I live by the best rule of all, Alcohol and time heals everything. And that's all I have to say about that. (sorry I just saw FG last night)  NEVER FORGET God Bless The USA. | ||||

My life altering experience is in the opposite direction. I used to be completely uptight and afraid to try anything. Then I met my fiance and he taught me how to live a little. | Psychopath Registered: Jan. 02 | I have a lot of life-altering experiences, a couple near-death. Unfortunately, the near-deaths were intentional. I had to step back and almost literally smack myself out of it. One would be when I was 12 - related to a man and my mother; several were when I was 14 - related to my father and the evil things he is; another when I was 15 - related to a man I didn't know; another was my college graduation; another was the day I took my dog to the shelter because I didn't have a place to live and couldn't afford to feed us. I've had a lot happen to me. Sometimes I suprised I'm still around, but I believe that if I could survive all of that, I can survive anything. Your past is not something you can change, just something you can learn from or psychoanalyze for yourself the rest of your life. | O&A Board Regular Registered: Oct. 00 | Well.. I used to be a borderline introvert/extrovert.... Last July one of my best friends hung himself in our backyard, we buried him on my birthday. A month after that, after I had moved into a new house, I had to bring said best friends' girlfriend over for the night because she needed to get away, she hung herself in our backyard the next day. Shortly after that, a relative of another best friend passes away, then September 11th. Then a baby cousin of a best friend develops cancer, and a week ago another fairly good friend OD'ed. Needless to say, I can't wait to turn 28 (since this all started when i turned 27) and I really don't go out much if at all anymore. Hey... you asked  No! I am NOT a Goth Dude!! Being the fat kid growing up. I'm not fat anymore, but that memory still both haunts & drives me. 2. Watching my father's business fail. It's the reason I am so determined to be a self-success. 3. Having my heart broken. I'm not sure which of the two major heart breaks has affected me more. But both have completely changed the course of my life.  I believe in the Faith... that can save me. I was employed there for a little over 3 weeks when 9/11 happened, luckly i was in a PATH train when the plane hit, but just being outside know that the people that i knew and worked with were up there. I can honostly say that the whole experience changed my persona. Even my girlfriend said that she notices a big change in me. I don't know if this change will last, but in some ways i hope that it does. | ||||

| O&A Board Regular Registered: Jan. 01 | the most life altering experience for me is my mom throwing me out of the house when i was 15.. i havent lived with her since. i was in a lot of trouble when i was a teenager. by the time i was 15, i was already in rehab, had 2 arrests (drugs, and assault with a deadly weapon), and was on probation. so finally after the second arrest my mom sent me to live with my dad.. since then, i have never gotten in any major trouble, got my grades up, went to college, and moved into my own place as soon as i got done with college. now i have a great job, a 4 bedroom house and I enjoy my life.
