| O&A Board Regular Registered: Oct. 00 | yeah...it's crap. what it's meant to do is act as a leverage to get more concessions for the industry. there is a law in effect that allows us to make copies of shit for private use...and i can't see this new item being taken seriously. What they really want is more protections, money, etc...and will do anything to use as a bargaining chip. | ||||

| O&A Board Regular Registered: Jan. 01 | I've been keeping an ear out on this, and it sucks. It is the Movie industry pushing this, with music industry along for the ride, and electronics / pc makers opposed. Fair use doctrine may get shot to hell on this. Even though there will be some cracker who will defeat system, it will be a precedent since it will also eliminate many legit reasons for copying discs - create mixed cd's, to use mp3 players, etc. Be afraid. Be very afraid.  | ||||
