Hanger-On Registered: Jan. 01 | According to USA Today, "The Job" is one of the network shows that's still up in the air as to whether or not it's going to be continued. Personally, I like the show. USA Today is taking a poll ('cause that's what they do best). I don't know if it'll have any effect, but here's the link: USA Today "Save Our Shows" Page Still trying to get used to the pop-up ad... -Sparkey

O&A Board Regular Registered: Jan. 01 | Maybe its just me, but it seems all these networks are looking for their own "survivor" with the new shows that come out. I don't mean from a reality-programming stance, but from a ratings stance. Sure, its obvious every network wants high-rating shows, but I get the impression that survivor has somehow set the bar for new programs to live up to. Not to sound like the XFL, but every show needs time to gain a fan base and a name for itself. And most of the new shows do suck ass, but the few that are actually good may not get the press they need to survive for more than a season, if that long. Just my take, but I could be wrong - I watch cable mainly anyway, screw network TV. "Official sponsor of the Best Ass Contest" Graduate of the Rookie School for Newbies

O&A Board Regular Registered: Feb. 01 | quote: That's absolutely true. Networks want shows that are "instant" hits with ER-level ratings, and as soon as that doesn't happen, they discard the show rather than letting it stick around long enough for anyone to catch on. It's very unfair, especially if you remember that neither "Cheers" nor "Seinfeld" started out great, but NBC held on until they became hits. "ARE YOU PONDERING WHAT I'M PONDERING?"

O&A Board Regular Registered: Jan. 01 | What it comes down to is ratings = $$. Much like radio. So if a program has shitty ratings at the gate, off it goes, since it "probably won't make the netwrk any $", and it gets replaced by some other hip-street style piece of shit that some wet-behind-the-ears network executive pushes as the next big thing since sliced bread. Seriously, thats why I don't watch all that much regular TV - sure, I'll hit survivor, and (tool on me if you like) I watch my Trek every week, but my cable box is usually set to the IFC or HBO. If nothing else, I've got a ton of DVD's that I haven't had the chance to watch. "Official sponsor of the Best Ass Contest" Graduate of the Rookie School for Newbies

Psychopath Registered: Nov. 00 | Ikea - I'm not saying good shows don't get cancelled... F&G and Action were both on much longer than three weeks. But "The Job" lost 20% of the Drew Carey audience last week, so yes, watch it soon if you want to watch it... (BE WATCHING PEOPLE) "Art isn't easy"
