| O&A Board Veteran Registered: Sep. 00  | Visit this Website The producers of Sopranos are sued. Why? Because of the Illinois Constitution "guarantee of individual dignity." Now maybe it's because I'm not Italian but I don't see any problem with The Sopranos. In any medium be it book or television or movie you need a "gimmick" or a "plot" and this is what makes the show work. Anyway back to the case... The attorneys are apparently seeking nothing except for the courts to state that dignity is now damaging to one's dignity. They claim that it suggests the only opportunity Italians have is in a life of crime. "Bzzz, Try Again Dumbass." There are characters on the show not in a life of crime for God's sake. A few quotes that bother me from the same guy: "This is like no family I know"- the attorney for the group. Well if you don't know people like them, they must not exist, right? "I don't know Italian mothers, ever, who try to have their own son killed." - once again, proving nothing! So in conclusion- Get in the coffin. I thought youse Italians had ballies.  | ||||

| Psychopath Registered: Dec. 00 | So freedom of speach doesn't apply in Chicago, I know the US networks are heavily censored, no swearing/nudity and the like, that is permitted here (Sopranos is Networked in UK), but isn't HBO only watched by people who pay to watch it. If Italians are offended by the Sopranos, are Germans and Japanese offended by war films? will their producers be sued next. If this kind of thing isn't thrown right out, soon film makers will be left making just bland inoffensive rubbish for rear of being sued. ARG I NEED COFFEE !! | ||||
