Some agreed, some disagreed. Now the familes are seeking $5 Billion against companies "that create violent video games and sex-oriented Web sites." That's right, thanks to Mortal Kombat and VoyeurDorm, a tragedy occured. In reality, they reference "Doom" in their law case. 2 years ago Doom was old technology, stop blaming Doom, technology has advanced. Thank God these two pricks weren't high on 4/20. Here's the article Columbine Victims File $5B Suit The Associated Press Apr 23 2001 9:12PM DENVER (AP) - The families of several victims in the Columbine massacre have filed a lawsuit against companies that create violent video games and sex-oriented Web sites, claiming their products influenced the gunmen. The suit seeks $5 billion in punitive damages from 25 entertainment companies. It was filed on behalf of the family of slain teacher Dave Sanders and other Columbine victims in federal court. Companies named in the lawsuit include Nintendo of America, Sega of America, Sony Computer Entertainment and Time Warner Inc., which is now AOL Time Warner, and ID Software Inc. and GT Interactive Software Corp., creators and publishers of the game ``Doom.'' During the investigation into the April 20, 1999, shooting, police found a videotape that shows one of the killers with a sawed-off shotgun on his lap he calls ``Arlene'' after a character in the ``Doom'' video game. ``Absent the combination of extremely violent video games and these boys' incredibly deep involvement, use of and addiction to these games and the boys' basic personalities, these murders and this massacre would not have occurred,'' said the lawsuit filed Thursday, a day before the two-year anniversary of the shootings. Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold fatally shot Sanders and 12 students and wounded 23 others before killing themselves in the April 20, 1999, attack at Columbine High School. ID Software Inc. of Mesquite, Texas, did not immediately respond Monday to a faxed request for comment. A Minneapolis phone number listed for GT Interactive Software Corp. was not in service. A nearly identical lawsuit filed after Michael Carneal killed three Heath High School students in Paducah, Ky., in 1997, was dismissed last April. A federal judge there said video games are not subject to product liability laws. Sega declined comment, issuing a statement that it had not seen the lawsuit. Nintendo said it does not comment on pending litigation. ``Doom'' is a target-shooting game. Other violent video games mentioned in the lawsuit include ``Quake'' and ``Redneck Rampage.'' The lawsuit also claims Klebold and Harris looked at sexually violent material on at least two Internet sites. Shitloads of money will provide the only way that I can get on with life. These people are over the deaths. These people have moved on with life. How do I know this? If emotional damage was the REAL motive behind this suit, don't you think the suit would have been filed when the emotional damage was greatest - right after it happened? But no, they didn't sue then. Why? Cause this suit is bullshit. Some lawyer who wants to get rich said to them, "hey, we can sue this guy and that guy and the other guy.... OH I've got a great idea! Let's blame VIDEO GAMES! Those companies have TONS of money to give us!! We'll just blame our emotional stress and then we can have a money bin like Uncle Scrooge!" Funny part is, if they get any money at all, it'll probably somewhere under $20 million in a settlement. Cause if they turn down a settlement, no matter how small it is, they're stupid - because $5 billion... BILLION... is absolutely nuts to even THINK about asking for. Having creativity such as writing a story that has killing in it or being entertaind by watching a movie with violence and gore is ok, but parents are so busy working nowadays, they don't teach there kids common manners and decency, they don't teach right and wrong. there are many things wrong with american society, the Media is certianly very low on the list of problems | ||||

Granted, the kids had some heavy artilery, but so does the fucking Swat team. Now I totally respect Cops and the job they have to do, but the showing at Columbine was down right pathetic. It just seems as though suburban cops are real tough guys when they are in a bar beating up a drunk and getting away with it, or when your pulled over and dispute something, and suddenly get twice as many tickets. But when there is a real crime the run like fucking coward pricks. The teacher that died in the School bled to death from wounds that could have easily been patched. Why did he bleed to death? because he was in the school for 3 hours AFTER the swat arrived. Real fucking cowboys. I hate bashing cops, but that was so pitiful that every night those cops should go to bed knowing they failed.

This is for the simple reason that at that time, the shooters wer not identified, and could have easily slipped out with the hostages. The SWAT had to cover all the bases. He had the kids hand and then jumped back when the kid fell to the ground. It was pretty sad. 3 hours to evacuate a school while people bleed to death? thats a little much. To me personally, it just proves that these suburban prick cops are nothing but the pussy's everyone says they are.

So now, if these two assfucks had read Shakespeare, does that mean thrie parents would call for a ban of all of his writings? I don't understand how people cannot just face the music and realize that if they were a little bit more active and in touch with their children's lives, things like this might be prevented? The kids played Doom in their parent's house on the computer, didn't they? Doesn't that make the parents an accessory? You can try to blame the media and entertainment industries all you like - its not goona do anything more than force gaming companies to put more visible parental warnings on the games, maybe a few "kids, dont try this at home" PSA's, or maybe tone down some viloence in movies for a year or so. If these parents had just taken a few minutes a day to maybe be a little closer to their kids, be openminded, and earn the trust of their kids to talk to them, this might not have happened. Hell, I grew up on Iron Maiden, played nothing but blow-em-up videop games, and love watching a good bloody horror flick - and I have never had the feeling that I wana go out and plug some people because they pissed me off. The more prohibitions you put on things, the more it will become "Taboo" and kids will want to do it more- Take for instance- Underage Drinking, are you going to tell me that no one here had been able to get alchohol before they were 21? Or how easy it is to get weed? Most people in this country just don't realize the more you restrict something, the more appealing it becomes to do that something. Take Europe for instance, It is 18 to drink over there, and they don't have nearly the same amount of problems there as we do over here- now don't get me wrong I would not live there, gas is too expensive, people don't like to take baths over there, and it's hard to get a Sam Adams there. Also last weekend I caught the tail end of Heathers where Christian Slater tries to blow the school up, call me strange, but the Columbine shooting just came to my mind since that was their plan as well... And that movie was made when those kids were probably still in diapers. I guess we will have to sue the makers of that movie as well, along w/ Wynona Ryder & Christian Slater...
