| Hanger-On Registered: Jan. 70  | I was just checking out what other boards have listed as their rules of etiquette. Below find some examples of these. I don't expect everyone to read this, but if one or two of you read it, and take something from it, I guess it wasn't in vain. Please realize how free our board is compared to these others, and realize also that if you get flamed here, there's a God Damned good chance you deserved it. Message Board Etiquette These forums operate on the "honor" principle; they are open to all with very few restrictions on content, but they are moderated to some extent. Participants on these forums are expected to treat each other with dignity and respect. All participants have the right to engage in heated and even passionate debate. Please remember that an attack on your opinion is NOT an attack on you, personally. Don't take everything said to heart and you'll enjoy yourself more. However, in order to maintain a proper level of discourse, the following kinds of postings are prohibited: Posting blatantly false and misleading information (hypothetical situations are not covered by this restriction) Using offensive language or posting offensive pictures Launching personal attacks against another participant (racial slurs, etc.) Faking another person's ID in your postings Posting Spam or Advertising People who make such posts will have their ISP contacted. Such postings will be deleted immediately. Individuals who engage in such activity will be publicly warned. Individuals who persist in such behavior will have their posting privileges temporarily or permanently revoked. We wish to stress, however, especially for the younger folk and their parents, that you may find an occasional swear word on these boards. We urge that if you are under 18 that you ask your parents to join you when you are viewing the boards, so they can explain why some of the debates are sometimes quite heated. Perhaps they can learn some new things as well! Topic Please make the topic of your post as descriptive as possible. Don’t just say “ help me out guys†or “I have a questionâ€. Giving a descriptive topic helps those in the know better able to help you, by not having to read every post, plus your particular topic could be the same as someone else’s and you could just add your question or statement to that thread. Saves on bandwidth and having to answer the same question over again on some other post. Where to Post Please read the descriptions on each forum to better help you to know where to post your question or statement. Don’t put your post on every forum. Don’t put your post on more than one forum. Content of Post When posting a question, please give as much information as you can about your problem and the year and type of vehicle you have, if it is not already included in your signature. Flaming Flaming is not necessary or tolerated on this board. DON’T DO IT! Abusive and foul language is also not tolerated. Many manufactures and companies monitor this site and it does not show a professional persona to allow such language and abuse. This is also a family site, so keep it clean. Rules Please think before you post. Many others will see your messages. If in doubt, rephrase it. You may not delete your message after posting it. Use your own good judgment and try to moderate yourself. If you feel the topic is getting a bit off of topic, start a new one. Moderators will provide some "assistance" if required when topics start to stray, or close them if they persist. Lets not let it get that far. If you don't have anything constructive to post, perhaps it's best left out of the forums. Mean, derogatory and insulting posts may be removed from the board at the moderators/administrators discretion. We are here to learn and share and not to flame. Advertisements, chain letters, pyramid schemes, and solicitations are inappropriate on this BB. Use the "search" hyperlink to search through old messages to find the answer to your question. You may post a message about products you may for sale in the For Sale/ Wanted Forum commercial endeavors are prohibitied unless specifially authorized by the sites administrator. Contact me for information. Annoying and obnoxious behavior (to be determined by the Administrator or Moderators) will receive 2 warnings. If this behavior continues, a ban of 2 weeks will be the implemented. Beyond that, instances will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis. Always use your own judgment when reading advice from fellow forum members. The info provided here is the posters opinion and may not always be correct. Often, but not always, it is best to use the group’s opinion on a subject rather than one specific member. If you have a problem with another forum member. Bring this to the attention of one of the moderators or the Administrator. DON'T post them. This should be dealt with via email. Please do not use more than one username. Remember to post the results and outcomes of any questions you may have had. Chances are high it will help someone else in a similar circumstance. Users that violate the guidelines continuously may be banned from the board at the moderators discretion. Please feel free to share something you've learned with your fellow members. Something which seems obvious to you may be a problem for someone else. Remember these are rules from other boards, and don't necessarily apply here. Maybe they can serve as a guideline, or just as a reminder of how free we are here to do whatever the fuck we want, within reason. I only posted this because lately there has been a rash of people that claim that they don't understand what they are doing wrong. Please feel free to add additional comments, or call me a tool, whatever you feel is necessary. :)
