| O&A Board Veteran Registered: Dec. 00  | I know that alot of people on the board have serious issues with their dads. I guess I'm one of those lucky few that has a father that was always there for me. In his honor and being a father myself of a 4 year old and another on the way, I dedicate this to my Dad. I love you Dad. DO NOT DEFILE THIS THREAD! If you feel the need to bitch about your dad about how lousy he is and how much of a cocksucker he is, then do it elsewhere. If you feel the need to be an asshole and put your useless wiseass comments that you think are funny, FUCK OFF, and do it elsewhere. I'M VERY SERIOUS ABOUT THIS. I'm one of 5 but you always made me feel special Just by telling me that I'm your favorite, means the world to me, even if you were saying it just to make me feel good. It worked. The things you taught me are lessons I won't forget Be honest, be fair, be responsible. These are lessons I won't forget and that I will pass on my kids. How many jobs did you work to put food on our table and a roof over our head How many days did you work straight without seeing us so that we wouldn't go hungry How much effort did you put into making every minute with me the best it could be How many times did you save money for yourself but spent it on us because you didn't want us to be different from the other kids. How many nights did you spend sitting up when I was sick with a fever How many nights did you spend in the hospital with me and cried for the pain I was in How many times did you defend me with others, even though you knew I was wrong How proud were you when the day I got married How proud were you when you met your grandson for the first time. How many times did you look in my eyes and were proud of me just because You think I didn't notice, but I did. I may not have told you but I always knew when you were there. If I am half the father to my kids that you are to me then I'm the best father that could ever be. For you dad - I say these two things: Thank You for being my dad and I LOVE YOU pops! | ||||

| O&A Board Veteran Registered: Jan. 01 | Happy Father's day dad. Last night I took my dad into manhatten to see this band play. We cruised Tower Records before the show, then grabbed some grub at the club. The concert was great and he had a great time. Spending nights like that with Dad are great. We didn't always have the greatest relationship growing up, but as I got older (and wiser) I realized that the things he told me and the advice he gave me were priceless. Now we have a great relationship. He's like a friend most of the time instead of like a father. Thanks again dad. And a Happy Fathers Day to Grumpy (my foster dad) and all the other Dads on the message board. Hope your Sunday is great. "Time is an illusion. Lunchtime doubly so." | ||||

That being said: Dad, i know we don't get along too much anymore, and we are not fighting we are avoiding eachother. but you stuck around and raised me when you didn't have to. you stayed around when most people would have run from their problems. for all your faults and all you've done wrong, on this one front you did something right. you brought me to my first hockey game, football game, and baseball game. the one thing we could always talk about was our sports. you took me to see the stanley cup at 3:00 in the morning. you took me to the game later on that day, when we saw our Devils do it all. you've done more for me than i relise. and eventhough you'll never see this, i love you. Don't take what's not yours - Respect is earned not given. - Trust people once, if they don't deserve it afterwards, don't easily give it back - Believe in yourself if you want others to believe in you - Always remember who you are and where you came from. It's what makes you YOU! - Do better for your children than I did for you (he'd give me the world if I asked for it) - Teach your children but don't force knowledge on them. This father's day I would love to show him that I really care, but cannot afford to do anything major. But I would like to say, I love you dad and happy fathers day!
