Being from Jersey (Exit 14 on NJT; 142 on GSP), I am glad we can finally look down our noses (prom mom, carjacking, bodies in the Meadowlands) at another state for its insane murders. Whew! | O&A Board Regular Registered: Oct. 00 | 'I JUST KILLED MY KIDS' By STEVEN LONG, JOHN LEHMANN and TRACY CONNOR - Associated Press June 21, 2001 -- A Texas mom in the grips of post-partum depression drowned her five young children in the bathtub yesterday, then called her husband at work with a chilling message: "You better come home." By the time NASA engineer Russell Yates rushed to the tidy Spanish-style house in suburban Houston, cops were already inside - reeling from a scene of sheer horror. "I just killed my children," his wife, Andrea, had nervously blurted out when she greeted police at the door, soaking wet and breathing heavily, authorities said. She then led an officer to the bedroom where the damp bodies of four children - 6-month-old Mary, 2-year-old Luke, 3-year-old Paul and 5-year-old John - were under a sheet. The fifth and oldest child, 7-year-old Noah, was found in the bathtub, where he and his siblings had been systematically drowned shortly before 10 a.m., investigators said. Their father got to the house in upscale Clear Lake just after police, but he was kept out until the bodies were removed. Andrea Yates, 36, bespectacled with long brown hair and wearing a torn bedraggled shirt, was led away in handcuffs. She was charged with capital murder. Relatives said their hearts were bleeding for Russell Yates, who works on the shuttle program at Houston's Johnson Space Center. "We're going to have to pull together as a family to help Rusty," niece Jessica Kennedy, 15, told The Post. "He's just lost his five kids, and now he's going to lose her [his wife] - I can't explain how sad we feel." The mother had suffered from post-partum depression since Luke's birth, and it apparently got worse after Mary was born, police and family said. She was taking anti-depressants. Child-welfare authorities said she tried to kill herself with an overdose in June 1999. Over the weekend, Rusty Yates had confided in neighbors about his wife's turmoil. "He said his wife had been very depressed since giving birth to their youngest child six months ago," neighbor Fernando Guel said. "He mentioned post-partum depression." Guel had run into Rusty Yates and his three oldest kids at a birthday party at the home of Pat Salas and Raymond Rivera. Rivera was hanging up a piñata when he saw Yates in his yard and invited the family to the bash. "He said he would be there, but [the] mom was depressed and she wouldn't be coming," Rivera said. Later, after the giggling boys had taken their turns on the rented "moonwalk" and whacked at the Superman piñata, Rivera asked Yates again if his wife would come. "No, she's just too depressed," he said, according to Rivera. Kennedy said the mom of five was struggling to juggle her responsibilities, which included home-schooling the youngsters. "It was a big job, but she seemed to be feeling a bit better when we saw her two weeks ago," she said. "The depression was always there, but she was doing such a great job. Noah was so smart - he could tell me more about American presidents than I ever knew." Former sister-in-law Marsha Kennedy, who's divorced from Andrea's brother, said, "There was never a hint - never, never - of anything like this." Across from the family's $130,000 house, neighbors were in disbelief. They said Russell Yates was a nice, friendly man and his children were fun-loving and well-behaved. But they knew little about Andrea. "You'd hardly ever see her. The husband worked alone in the yard. If she ever came out, it would only be for five minutes. You wouldn't even see her at the store," Guel said. | ||||

| Psychopath Registered: May. 01 | PLEASE READ THIS AND COMMENT "woman", and I obviously use the term lightly, is worse than someone like Jeffrey Dahmer or even Tim McVeigh. I studied criminal law and forensics in college (never finished), and I have studied up on some of the century's worst serial killers. Tim McVeigh was able to extract himself from the devastating ramifications of his crime because there were no real faces attached to it in his head. To him, there was the beast called the government, and he rationalized by thinking he was blowing off a chunk of said beast. Dahmer, I do not fully understand, but can see his own rationale. He was a sick man, and as with all of humanity's guilty pleasures, he indulged himself. He started off by getting away with a little at a time, indulging his sickness, his base desire, and gradually increased his "yield". The more his fantasies oozed unchecked, the freer he felt in indulging them. This long explanation is a set-up for this point: How in the FUCKING vast universe could you systematically drown FIVE beings who exist as amalgams of your own essence and another's. I sit here disgusted, trying to find the words to express my sorrow and utter repulsion at the thought of taking even ONE of your own ilk, that you nurtured, and doing what she did. Yet she did it five times, each time save the first with the knowledge that it had been done before. This fucking baffles me. I wil not let this creature own my emotions, ie me condeming her with my hatred and rage. I feel nothing but a sickening knot in my stomach that such a creature is, or once was, human. My soul cries out for us as a race because there is such an aberration among us and we have not spotted it until such an event comes to pass. I simply wish she is executed, by injection, or as painlessly as possible. She need not be made an example of, for she is already an example of what we need to NEVER EVER EVER fucking EVER happen again in our history-to-come. For the love of everything this planet has come to represent, good or evil, light or dark, eliminate this creature from existence. She is a dark, blight of a mutation that somehow slipped under humanity's radar. In the animal world, such mutations as this "woman" are usually either shied away from by their siblings and parents out of fear, or are set upon and destroyed. If anyone has ever read Stephen King, he has very eloquently described on various occasions creatures which follow the rules of neither good nor evil and know nothing but destruction and morbidity.
