A couple of things have been on my mind lately and I would like to start a serious converstaion about them. Many of you probably heard me on the show on Thursday when I was pissed off about the MILF contest and once again not even making it as a finalist. I realize that my body is not what mainstream America considers beautiful. I realize the whole idea of "thin is in" is the way that a lot of people think. However, I also know that a lot of people like bigger women. I guess I just do not get the all out Barbie doll mentality when it comes to ideas of beauty. The wet t-shirt contest turned into a Barbie doll and cunt licking contest. The MILF contest is also a Babrie doll contest and every other contest has been the same way.
I think that what bothers me the most is that it was stated that the voting was up for 36 hours and I supposedly did not get one vote in that amount of time when in reality the voting was up less than ten minutes with my picture being one of those being voted on. Then it was said that I was out of the contest along with three other people. The reality is that people behind the scenes voted the first four people off and we were not even given a chance to let public opinion rule.
When I was at the road show a lot of people told me they were pissed off when they heard that I did not get any votes because they had voted for me. Now, I know I got at least one vote, because I voted for myself before I was taken out of the contest. Something doesn't add up here...
While at the road show, I could not walk more than ten feet before I was swarmed by people wanting a magazine and an autograph. I brought 600 magazines and 12 dozen hats. My hand was sore from so much signing by the time the day was over.
When I get up on stage and do the wild stuff that I do, the crowd goes nuts. Sometimes they boo, but there is also a hell of a lot of cheering. I am not afraid of going all out and getting outrageous. I am not afraid of the fat jokes and hell, there are times when I have made fat jokes myself on the show. I guess what bothers me though is the idea that no fat or even plump girl will ever get a chance on the show in one of the contests of even becoming a finalist until they have a BBW contest. I don't think I would have won any of the contests I have entered, but I think that I could have made it past a few of the cuts before being voted out if the general public were voting and not just the behind the scenes people at the studio.
It also makes me wonder when I get all kinds of negativity on the board here and on the air, and then I go to the road shows and sign nearly 600 autographs and people are walking up to me all day saying they love me on the show and they think I am beautiful no matter what is said on air.
I guess I am interested in some honest thoughts on this subject.

It might be a Barbie Doll contest but in all honesty that's what guys want to fuck. No offense but guys might not look for blonde and blue eyes or the biggest breasts but a lot of guys want a nice body in their fuckings. Now the voting was up for a couple of days and whether or not you got any votes, I don't know but you do a lot for the show and that's appreciated.

I'd like to add that I agree with AM that I also don't like bone thin, I too like when chicks have "meat on their bones"- I might go for thinner than fatter but I don't go for skeletons (though I do find Calista Flockhart strangely appealing)

See, that is where I beg to differ. I went on wnew.com right before the show on Thursday and you could not vote for anyone. There was no link for voting anywhere to be found. Once the show started, the voting section was put up and I was able to place a vote for myself which went through according to the message on the computer screen. Then I hear the guys say something along the lines of "oh look at that, look who got voted off the contest? Sorry Mendi". I looked and then I had an x on my face pic and you could not vote for me. There was no public opinion vote, it was a few people from the show voting, and I was out.

I don't have a problem with losing if the contest was fair, and I posted this for a serious discussion about how people feel about bigger women.

mendi, with every contest, the guys from the show voted for qualifiers first, so that they could weed out the contstants who have no chance of winning and only offer us the cream of the crop.they try to give something to most guy's tastes in girls, and there are very few guys who are atracted to women of your size.every contest they've done this, and every time you've been knocked out.face it, you'll never get passed the qualifiing round of any normal contest.but at least your getting the publicity out there, and some more people might buy your magazine.but for most guys you are not a mom that they'd like to fuck
edit-this has nothing to do with anything, but post #900...WHOO HOO(hey, at least i didn;t resurect the fuck thread for my 900th post)

I guess what I am saying is...who says that one person has no chance of winning over another person. Why not have a fair contest where all who enter are voted on for one day. At the end of the day you have the ten finalists. If the same people are voting all the time on who the finalists will be then the same body type will always be chosen and no other body type will have a chance in hell of even making it to the finals.

You also said:

but at least your getting the publicity out there, and some more people might buy your magazine

At this point in the game I don't do it for the publicity. I do it because I enjoy being a part of the show. I don't even recall when the last time was that they plugged menditeats.com. AND I don't own Big Butt Magazine. The magazine doesn't even fucking pay me to go on the shows or do any of the publicity that I give to them. I do it because the show is a riot. I am just asking for a fair public chance at being voted as a finalist. I am not saying that I would make it to the finals even if it was public...but I think there is a possibility that I would. and furthermore, I don't think I would win, but I would like to be given a chance to try. That's all.

Who the hell cares if they removed you? I prefer it that way since at least you won't win out of the humor/novelty aspect of it. If you walked the street of some town that doesn't get the show and asked 100 guys who they would rather fuck you or one of the hotter contestants at least 80-85 would pick the other one. Face it, you aren't the ideal woman. You are comfortable with who you are so that's the important thing. But you just aren't the mom that guys would like to fuck. Suck it up and deal.

And you mention the magazines and autographs, the majority of them did it as a joke. It's kind of like the time I got Oscar Gamble's autograph. Not because he was a good player but because he had a huge fucking afro.

Did you ever consider the fact that when they said that you got "no votes", they were exaggerating? Say, for the sake of argument, you got 200 votes. Now, if somebody like Allison or Neo get 3 to 4,000 votes a peice (and considering the large audience who have access to a computer, thats not too far off), is it not that unlikely for one to say that you got practically "no votes"? Im sure you got some votes Mendi, just not enough to win.

Please don't concider this a pile on. You did ask. You can't possibly believe you had a chance in hell of winning, except as a joke vote, which wouldn't happen. Look who has won the previous contests. Look who is in all the mainstream porno mags. Look at the women in mainstream porno movies. Look in the mirror. Quit your whining.

Ok Mendi, coming from a woman, I do have to agree that in our society, the images of what a perfect woman is are somewhat screwed, but there is nothing you can do. It's the way that we are as a whole. I'm sure a lot of men love big, beautiful women but the majority don't. If you don't let that bother you then you have more confidence than I ever will! How you look does not appeal to the mass but keep on doing it for the guys that love big ladies!

The MILF contest was judged by votes - votes of O&A listeners, who are mostly male. I think that they represent a good survey group for typical males in the U.S. Most did not vote for you because you are not what they find attractive. I am sure that you have a dilike for some sort of physical quality in a person, be it weight, skin color, big nose...whatever! Unfortunately for you, a common dislike found in our society is obesity. Is it fair? no. Can it change? probably not. You just have to learn to deal with the fact that you are not what a typical man might find attractive, and shouldn't be surprised that you lose a contest that is jugded by typical males.

It's a good thing that you are part of a hit syndicated radio show. When I tried out for Weakest link in april I knew I had no chance in winning. I was thinking to myself I was too young, black, smart, and not pretty enough. But you know what the experience was all I wanted.

I wish I could have been a major part of the O & A show. Maybe someday. Consider your self a part an exclusive sorority/fraternity of sorts. Those who have been closely invovled with the O&A show.

Hi Mendi,
you are either preaching to the converted here (those who are into BBW) or to those who are not, and will never be into BBW. There is no way you will ever change anyones' minds here.

I think your being on the show is great, and I think you're a pisser. Entering the contests is cool too.

Don't expect to win though, with this audience, or for that matter any large, modern, mainstream audience. It's just not where it's at lately.

Thin IS in and the majority is going to vote that way.

Only speaking from my personal experience-I do one thing. I WOW. It's the one feature I have that I think is worth sharing, and it's fun. Until I lose the weight I wish to, I will not be entering ANY AESTHETIC CONTESTS. I would consider it a waste of mine and the viewers' time.

Personally, I do not feel healthy or happy at my current weight - and that is my own feeling, not how others perceive me.

Just another big girl's opinion.

There is a difference between BBW and you. Not to be harsh, but when you put yourself out there you have to expect replies like you're getting.

You push the limits of vulgarity.

The fact is most normal men find your size to be obscene.

You get props for having guts to do what you do. Hope I didn't rain on your parade, you're probably a nice person.

..and you think you had some chance of winning the MILF contest??? I can't truley believe that you would believe that.

For those of you who think I am whining, I seriously am not trying to make it seem that way. As I said when I started this topic, I am looking for a serious conversation and not anything else.
I do realize that it may seem like whining and that seriously is not my intention. I love going on the show. I don't mind the negativity that is thrown my way, but I do feel that the way they pick the finalists is not a fair way and that is where my frustration comes in. If ten people from the show are always picking the finalists, then there is no possibility that a body type other than "Barbie Doll" will be chosen as a finalist, thus no fat chick or even slightly plump person will ever get a chance. I seriously do not think that if I made the contest that I would win, but I would like the chance to try. I would like a fair chance is all I am saying. I do think I would make a couple of cuts before being kicked out though. I also think it is small-minded to think that all votes I get would be humor/novelty votes as Officer Joe Friday suggested. There are a hell of a lot of people who like big women. They may not be the spoken majority but there are a lot of people who like big women who will not admit it to their friends but would vote for me if I was in the contest.

Just Jon said that voting has been up on Foundry music the whole time, but Opie or Anthony told me this weekend that the finalists were specifically chosen by the staff members. I am just saying that the same people voting for the finalists every time will produce the same results of the same body types in the contest every time.

Bluetarp, I don't consider this a pile on in any way. I do consider this a quality conversation among adults. I believe that in getting other people's opinions that it is giving a fair idea of how people think and that is fine by me. Once again, no, I don't think I would actually win, but one will never know until the voting is done in a fair manner. Perhaps America would shock people. Perhaps I would win.

You just have to learn to deal with the fact that you are not what a typical man might find attractive, and shouldn't be surprised that you lose a contest that is jugded by typical males.

I realize that there is a common dislike of obesity among a lot of Americans, but what I have also found is that when I go on the O&A show or other talk shows on television that I am constantly getting letters from people saying how they never liked fat chicks until they saw me perform. A typical letter is about how I made them think about their perceptions and somehow they found my style interesting. Maybe they still would not go out with a fat chick, but just maybe a stereotype has been broken for one more person and just maybe they will not treat fat people as adversely. Fat stereotypes are difficult to get past. They are the one stereotype that America still finds acceptable to harp on. If my antics on a show breaks down some of the stereotypes in people's minds then I feel that I have done my job.
I look at the contests that the guys have on the show and I know they want the Barbie doll types to enter, but I also realize that they don't say no fat chicks, so why should I not enter? Why should I be afraid of my body? I know it is not perfect, but what is perfect? Who says what perfect is? Who says that my body should be one thing or another? I have always been big. I used to hate my body, but I finally came to accept myself for who and what I am, and it was at that point that I realized that my size does not make me less of a person than a slender woman.

Rowelentless, I do consider it a fabulous thing to be a part of the O&A show. I love the show and have a great time participating in it. I am not discounting the fact that the show is great for advertisement for the magazine either. Obviously it is. Just asking for a fair shake is all.

Claire, why is it a waste of your time and the viewers time to enter a contest just because you are big? You are a beautiful woman. We may not win, but why should we think that our bodies are any less ok than the Barbie doll types? I understand not feeling happy or healthy at the weight you are at, heck, I would love to lose a few pounds myself, but I am just not going to let other people say I am not worthy of entering a contest based on my size alone. I am worthy of being able to do anything just because I want to do it. I don't look in the mirror and a fat woman, I look in the mirror and see a woman. Ok, so I am fat! It does not make me any less worthy of being in the human race. Statistics show that the majority of women in the US are over a size 14. Fashion is finally coming around to realize that they are leaving a huge hole in the marketing arena by not catering to fat people too. Mode magazine and BBW magazine are out there because they fill a need. Fredericks of Hollywood carries sizes up to 24/3X. Why? Because fat people want to look sexy too. Fat people are finally coming out and saying "screw what people think, we are worthy too."

Sweetangel I do believe it is about confidence. Part of me hopes that the confidence I show will rub off on some other BBWs as well.

Drunken GW, once again, I have stated from the beginning that I do not feel that I would win this contest or any other typical Barbie doll contest. Just want to be given a chance to see what people would do if given the chance to vote for me. That's all. It might shock people to see the actual results. As far as the replies that I am getting...I am not upset in the least by these replies. I think this is a quality conversation. Your comment about how "normal men" find my size to be obscene though is where I beg to differ. What constitutes normal? Who chooses what normal is? The media? O&A? What I do not get is why people think that a normal man would not like a BBW. Why does liking big beautiful women make a man "not normal"?

Ok, I think I have responded to everyone so far. Sorry for being so long-winded here but this is a topic that I feel very strongly about.

Heres my thoughts. Mendi is a great person, she is very sweet, kind and personable. She is a big girl, and she knows it, and she uses it to her advantange. I dare anyone here to find a woman of her size to enter just one of these contests, or at least do a percentage of what Mendi does for the show. No one will, because most women of that size want nothing to do with the public and the masses. Mendi has more balls (figuratively) than most of the men here for doing what she does. Like Dice said, you put yourself out there, and that is just what Mendi always does. At the Anny Party, and all road shows, and of course on the air. She doesnt even plug her web site, or the mag that she works for, doesnt own, but works for.

Now, as to her winning contests, I dont think she would have much of a chance, but she should be considered, or at least the fans should be able to vote for her if they want. She has been eliminated before she even got to get a vote, which isnt totally fair. I'm not sitting here saying that she is the hottest thing out there and should win, but at least given a chance. Thats all, and I know she isnt wining, just frustrated.

My personal rule-of-thumb:

If you stand up straight, and your belly is round, not flat, no problem.

If you stand up straight and your belly folds over, then its time to hit the gym and lay off the twinkies.

If there are multiple folds then YUCK!

Actually, a mans need for a Barbie like girl is only partially cultural.

Big breasts - While not all men want them, deep down in the sub-conscience, a guy (gay or not actually) views any woman with large breasts as a good person to nourish a newborn child. Which leads to the next area which is…

A Shapely body- Despite all of the 'barbie' girls in magazines today, that trend was not started anytime recently. For example: Back in the 16th and 17th centuries as I'm sure a lot of us know, men would attempt to have large bellies to show off that they could afford food (therefore to attracting a mate). If a dude with a large belly saw a chick with a shapely body, sex would be like a 'square peg in a square whole.'

With men the dominate sex in society, the need for a fat guy has gone away, but the guys need for a skinny chick still exists

C'est la vie.

I'm still saved....

Tune in next week for Gooch's creative works on my status!

This topic believe it or not hits pretty close to home for me. I don't consider myself thin, by no stretch of the imagination. I am very much aware on how I look. I have been on both sides of this. I have weighed in at 125 lbs and have made a clean $600 bucks on a Thursday night stripping the clothes off of my toned tanned body and I have weighed in at 180 lbs and would spend my Thursday nights stripping a pizza apart and leaving nothing but a crust here or there. So, when I say understand I do.

Here's something I ponder about often though, if I would weigh in now at 180-190 lbs like I used to, I wonder how many of you would even talk to me as much as you all do, buy me those shots, tell me I am pretty or hang out with me as often? In all honesty, the answer is - not many of you would. So, next time you see someone who isn't the "ideal" weight or isn't wearing the "trendish" clothes because they don't make them in their size just remember that could be you and don't think you are above it or that it can't happen. When I was giving those lap dances years ago I had no idea that 5 years from then I would be at the center of the "beach whale" jokes.

Is it fair that I get treated differently depending on my size, no but such is life. I have lost the weight and have kept it off now for years because I don't want to go back to the days where squeezing into a size 18 was a good day for me. Do I wish I were thinner? Yes. Will I try my hardest to never again fit into anything larger than a size 10? Yes. Do I do this for you, the average human being walking down the street, for the hope of a look, a smile or a wink? Absolutely not. I do it for me. I like to stand in the shower and see my toes, I like to walk down the street with confidence so when I see my reflection in the side of a building I don't look away, I like to jump in a pool without hearing "incoming", I like to go to the beach and not be scared to take off the shorts and tank top, I like to look in the mirror at the end of the day and think "not so bad". It may sound silly or stupid and some of you may not understand but I do it for me. What a concept.

The issue here isn't whether Mendi is beautiful or not to the average man. The issue here is:

Why do O&A and their staff feel they need to choose the finalists for us?

Mendi, there was not a chance in hell I would have voted for you, but I do believe that you deserved the chance for others to vote for you. Personally, I am a little offended that O&A feel that I am not "intelligent" enough to not vote for who I think is the best MILF. Why do they need to water down the choices for us? Why can't the contest just be decided by whoever get's the most votes?
