| Hanger-On Registered: Jan. 01  | WNEW is close to yet another overhaul of its struggling all-talk lineup, according to strong industry rumors. The Viacom/CBS/Infinity-owned station (102.7 FM), which dumped rock for talk nearly two years ago, hasn't been able to crack the Top 20 in spite of robust ratings from afternoon-drivers Opie & Anthony. It looks like Leslie "The Radio Chick" Gold, the saucy midday talker, is out again. Gold was fired last January but brought back three weeks later when a new ratings report showed audience gains - which haven't held up. WNEW is also expected to move syndicated nightsiders Don & Mike to middays, bumping the straight/gay team of Ron & Fez back to evenings. "WNEW has a basically good idea but has yet to find a way to do it," said Talkers magazine publisher Michael Harrison, who was an 'NEW DJ in the early '70s.
