| O&A Board Regular Registered: Oct. 00  | I just wanted to say a quick "I'm sorry" to the memebers of the board. Why? You ask? Well, the other day my girlfriend opened a file with a virus attached and it seemed to have sent out mail with infected attachments to alot of members of this board. I just wanted to let you all know that it was not intentional, and I apologize for any inconvienience it may have caused any of you. That's all. Happy posting  I'm accepting applications for adoptees. | ||||

| O&A Board Regular Registered: Oct. 00 | That's the funny thing Slash. I've never E-mailed anyone from the board personally or had them in my contact list. The mail that my box sent out was phenomenal. Most of the responses I got from people saying "Who the hell are you? And why are you sending me this?" were from people that I've never had any contact with. It was strange to say the least. The funny thing is, the mail that she opened to get infect was from someone on this board who was infected. Probably without even knowing it. Oh well, my machine is all set now anyway, and my girlfriend has strict instruction not to touch it or she'll lose fingers...lol I'm accepting applications for adoptees. | ||||

| O&A Board Regular Registered: Oct. 00 | i did recieve an email from you & a few others... i have run a virus check & i found nothing... is there any specifications that i should follow to see if i find somthing by accident... do you know what the file name is???... post here if you find out any thing else.... | O&A Board Regular Registered: Oct. 00 | From what I could gather the name of the virus is W32SIRCAM.WORM. If you get an e-mail that says: Hi there! I send you this file in order to have your advice. See you later, Thanks DO NOT open it. It will most likely be from someone you know considering it searches the infected machine for anything that resembles an e-mail address to send to. The first sign of you being infected will be loads of returned mail in your mailbox. I'm accepting applications for adoptees. | ||||

| O&A Board Regular Registered: Nov. 00 | Just a reminder: If you don't update your virus definitions regularly, then your virus protection software will NOT stop the newest viruses. Update at least once a week if not once a day. A much wittier reply came to mind immediately after I clicked the 'Send' button. A Life? Cool! Where can I download one of those from? BTW, FWIW, IMHO, AFAIK, yes. OTOH, AAMOF, maybe not. YMMV. | ||||

| O&A Board Regular Registered: Jan. 01 | Update your virus software? I hardly ever run mine and never update it. And I never send or get infected with viruses. Here is a good idea. DON'T USE OUTLOOK. Use Eudora, Netscape Mail, or Yahoo mail. All are better solutions than Outlook. Plus, they aren't responsible for 99% of viruses like Outlook.
