O&A Board Regular Registered: Jan. 01 | I was bored at work and decided to surf over to Gamespot. Theres a fairly detailed review of XP from a gaming perspective :quote: Click here to read the whole review. I have had the opportunity to get my hands on a cracked copy of XP, but I don't want to go through the hassle of troubleshooting all of my hardware and software incompatabilities just yet. From the sound of this review, it seems like a pretty strong gaming OS. OK, let the "Linux is better than Windoze" replies begin :) You can reach me through AIM or email. O&A Board Regular Registered: Jan. 01 | Actually XP isn't as bad as I anticipated. Let me just say if you are using 9x XP is a lot better than anything you have. However compared to 2000 it is yet untold what will happen. That's why I'm sticking to 2000. Oh and I've heard about weird things with XP happening. O&A Board Regular Registered: Jan. 01 | It sounds like the same one I have seen. Its got a crack that disables (or tricks) the activation program which makes the software infinitely re-installable. I might pick it up to have, but I don't want to screw up my setup without at least 1 or 2 SP's released from Mr. Gates and his friends (not to mention XP drivers for all of my hardware and software) You can reach me through AIM or email. Psychopath Registered: Sep. 01 | I am only giving the opinion of a person who has a "Designed for Windows XP" computers, because my new computer came with it: Windows XP totally rocks. No more blue screens of death or the annoying habit of having to restart the system when one program does something "illegal." The new taskbar and Windows' layouts look gay and childish, but you can just change it back to how it looked years in Me (It also takes up a little bit more memory). I checked my system info and it says that the one I have is build 2600, so, -- and only if you were interested in "giving it a shot" -- the no-activation 2600 build going around is probably the 'Final' edition. As you may or may not know, 2600 is the one that comes with PC's prepackaged with XP (mine anyway) and new PC'sdo not ask for all the "activation" bullshit. I am not certain, though. If you're really worried about compatibility, wait until you get a new PC and give it a try.

Psychopath Registered: Sep. 00 | I've had Windows XP Professional Corporate Edition Build 2600 for about two months and I must say it is very very good for gaming. Hell, its very good for everything. You shouldn't have to troubleshoot your hardware and software at all.
Its date night, get your shovel.
