k people, i just posted this on arstechinca forums... AM, FTL, u guys got any ideas???

Before I get into this, I'll give you my system specs: Athlon 1.4, Abit K7 RAID, gf2 ultra, IBM Deskstar 60GXP(2 NTFS partitions), blah blah blah... Win2k Pro SP2

I've only had win2k pro installed on my system since early September,
so I'm still a newbie...

Last Friday, I woke up and went to get on my computer (it stays up 24/7 for the most part). I turned on the monitor and what did I see? BSOD. I rebooted and right as Win2k starts to load, the BSOD flashes on the screen for about 1 second then my computer restarts itself (I couldn't even boot into safe mode). I powered it down, went and got dressed and decided to give it a shot again... same thing. I stuck in the win2k cdrom and booted off that, tried to repair it... didn't work.

Since all of my important data was on the D: partition, I decided to go ahead and reinstall win2k on the C: partition. This didn't work. I formatted C: and tried again... nope, still nothing. I tried a few different things and eventually I got win2k to install (I was even getting BSOD DURING installation).

I thought I was in the clear now... I could finally get onto D: and save all my data. EHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH, WRONG. D: is corrupted and unreadable. After a few reboots, I decided I would do a search on support.microsoft.com... the solution i found was quite simple: chkdsk d: /f
This did the trick. I was able access D: and move all my data onto another computer. About a minute after the data transfer was complete my good friend BSOD dropped by again. This started the whole 'BSOD, reboot, BSOD, reboot...' fiasco again.

I decided to whipe the hard drive clean and start fresh now that all my data was safe on my trusty Maxtor. I created 2 partitions, both NTFS like before, and went ahead and installed win2k pro. WOOHOO, it worked... or so I thought. Once I installed all the updates and drivers (xcept for my Soundblaster Live!... god damn soundblaster.com SUCKS... the win2k SBLive! driver page has been down since at least Friday) I began to install all of my programs. While installing them, guess who decided to drop by again... good ol' BSOD.

Now I have my computer at least booting up w/o the BSOD, but it keeps dropping by every 15 minutes or so... I've reinstalled win2k MULTIPLE times, but nothing seems to work...

PLEASE HELP ME!!!

format all the drives. use the startup disk to do it. DON'T USE WINDOWS TO FORMAT HARD DRIVES, USE FDISK. if you did this then consider checking your memory for viruses.

When you get the BSOD, what is the STOP code (there should be a series of like hex numbers after the stop - you can actually search against those in Microsoft's Knowledge Base to get a little more insight into what is actually hammering your PC)

Yeah what does the BSOD say? That's a real big clue as to what is happening.
