How to add subject line:

replace "(" with "<"

(A HREF="mailto:[email protected]
?subject=comments")Email Me(/A)

Not sure how to add text in the body, maybe try ?subject=comments&text=body" or something. Hope that helps.

Sleeper, nice try. However, as my unofficial newbie, I wish ya would stop embarassing me :)

Also, what's up with the "(" = "<" & ")" =">" crap, ya amateur. Heh

Spuds, here ya go...

The Code For Attaching MailTo with Subject to a Text Link -

<a href="mailto:[email protected]?subject=Sleeper is an HTML Hack...">Text in the mailto link i.e. E-Mail Us Here</a>

Change [email protected] to the e-mail address where you want the e-mail to be sent.

Change the message (Sleeper is an HTML Hack...) to whatever you wish to appear in the Subject line of the e-mail.

For additional recipients -

You can also add an additional recipient to the e-mail by adding a comma, no space, and the other e-mail address...

<A HREF="mailto:[email protected],[email protected]
?subject=this is my subject">send me email</A>

You can also add CC and BCC addresses by using an ampersand between the addresses...

<A HREF="mailto:[email protected],[email protected][email protected][email protected]">This is a additional, CC, and BCC mailto</A>

To answer your question about putting pre-defined text inside the body of a message... you can, but only with 4+ browsers. You need to add... &BODY=Text of the body - to the mailto...

i.e.

<A HREF="mailto:[email protected]?subject=My Apologies for being such an HTML Hack&body=I am Sleeper AKA Official Poser of OpieAnthony.com">this is the mailto with text in the body</A>

Click Me, You'll See!

Replace mailto, subject and body accordingly.

Unfortunately, if you're using a standard mailto, in a < 4 Browser, and not a form/Common Gateway Interface combination to process the request when it is sent to the server, then there is currently not a means of adding your own predefined text to the body of the message.

-----------------------------------------------------------------

Also -

The Code For Attaching MailTo with Subject to an Image Link -

<a href="mailto:[email protected]?subject=Sleeper is an HTML Hack..."><img src="email.gif" width="60"height="60"></a>

Change [email protected] to the e-mail address where you want the e-mail to be sent.

Change the message (Sleeper is an HTML Hack...) to whatever you wish to appear in the Subject line of the e-mail.

Change email.gif to the name of the image you use, and adjust the width and height accordingly.

Now I fully admit to being an HTML hack, but...

Besides the fact that you made it teh funney and were more elaborate in your explanation (I figure Spuds is intelligent enough to understand some things), where is the difference?

No, it was the part about adding text into the body of the email upon clicking on the link.

You said, "Not sure how to add text in the body, maybe try ?subject=comments&text=body" or something."

I said that it is &body=text that you specify"

That is why I posted, "<A HREF="mailto:[email protected]?subject=My Apologies for being such an HTML Hack&body=I am Sleeper AKA Official Poser of OpieAnthony.com">this is the mailto with text in the body</A>

Yes, I made it Teh Funney, take some lessons ;)

I know Spud's is smart enough to know, however, I was putting that all in there for the rest of the board in case anyone ever has questions about any of it in the future.

Tell me if that doesn't make sense, and I will edit it just for you. I aim to make you happy.
