Psychopath Registered: Oct. 00 | So, last night I was out x-mas shopping. I found myself in the gaming section of Best Buy. Playing the assorted consoles; x-box, ps2, etc.. I was impressed. I am a pc gamer, but now I am faced with upgrading my pc to meet todays hungry game demands. X-box seems like it is comparible... Which is better? Stay with my pc and upgrade for the cool $grand$ of shell out the $400 for the console and a couple games? I leave this question to you, my favorite experts! :) "I just got done dating a respectible school teacher...now I need a slut in my life, you know, one that when she comes into a room, she appears as if she got run over by a huge cock!" --- Jimmy Z | ||||

A PC will always (IMO) be superior to a console simply because it offers the option to upgrade your hardware. Consoles cannot be upgraded, and the software often has to be written to fit the constraints of the consoles horespower. Thats not necessarily a bad thing, because it takes out the guesswork when you buy a game - with a PC game, you need to see the minimum specs, the recommended specs, and then your specs. I got an x-box for Christmas and I am indeed impressed - visually its gorgeous and the playability is sweet (much different than a keyboard, but I can adapt). The x-box is the most powerful console available, but my 3 yeard old Dell has much more power than it (yes, I've upgraded it, but thats the fun of a PC). If I had to choose between PC or console I would go with the PC. Usually you can get a decent system broadband or dialup ready with enough hardware to play most current games - and being a gamer, you know there are more than enough PC games to play. A console, even PS2, has a limited amount of games available. You said you need to spend a grand to upgrade your PC? If thats the case, just buy a new one - either that or you're looking in the wrong places for what you want to upgrade to (price-wise). If you're going by retail store prices, you can almost ALWAYS get a cheaper price on a computer component online or at a local comp show/fair. It just comes down to getting more gaming for your buck. I was lucky to get an x-box for Christmas already having a PC, and despite all the fun the console will give me I'll always fall back on the PC :) You can reach me through AIM or email. Psychopath Registered: Sep. 00 | A grand to upgrade? A good motherboard and processor combo is like $200 then you get some ram for $60 and you are all set unless you have a video card that stinks.

O&A Board Regular Registered: Jan. 01 | MoBos and Ram are dirt cheap, and you can usually get the MoBo, CPU and Ram bundled together for a decent price. Then you can take your old crap out, put the new MoBo and stuff in, reconnect your drives, cards, etc and you're good to go - a GF2 MX card goes for around $50, even less maybe. Or you could wait until after 1/1/02 when PS2's are said to be going to $199.00 - don't know if that's true, but it wouldn't surprise me. You can reach me through AIM or email.
