Psychopath Registered: Oct. 00 | actually -- not related to Dennis' inquiry at all but I've also had a problem with installing XP itself. Once that blue setup screen gets to starting windows my pc just hangs. And now I'm stuck with that annoying boot menu to select windows me or windows xp pro install and don't know how to get rid of it!!! Anyone have any idea why the install wouldn't work, but better yet how to get rid of the boot option stuff? I'm too lazy to make a sig. AIM | ||||

O&A Board Regular Registered: Jan. 01 | quote:If by "upgraded" you mean you installed XP without having the setup program format your C Crive, then thats probably the problem. What you should try is backing up any saved levels of the game (if you have any), uninstall the game, and reinstall it under XP using the compatability mode. To do this, you need to put the game CD in (after you uninstall it), if autorun is on, the game will start to install itself - exit out of that. If it doesn't, even better. Open up My Computer, right click on your CD drive and select Explore. Then look for the Setip.exe file, right click, select Properties, and look for a Compatability Mode Tab. Select that, and tell Windows to use whatever version of Windows you had prior to XP as the compatibility mode for that program. Apply/click ok, get back to the CD-Rom window, double-click the Setup.exe again and reinstall your game. Once its in, go to the game's webite and check for any XP patches - and download/install as necessary. If you did a "clean" install and formatted the drive and reinstalled the game, you either screwed up the game install or need to apply patches. If there are no patches, you can still install the game as I described above, and look for the game's exe file after its installed (disciples2.exe, whatever the filename is of the app that starts the game). You then right-click that and give THAT file the compatibility mode of the last OS that it worked fine under. I hope that made some sense - damn, my fingers are tired........... You can reach me through AIM or email. Don't be shy, drop a line and say Hi!
