Psychopath Registered: Oct. 00 | I recently had a virus on my computer while Norton was installed on it. It didn't pick it up. Now i'm looking into updating Norton for 10 bucks or getting a free copy of McAfree... Which program is better? "Now the seasons over, and I feel it gettin' cold. What you have to remember is your anti-virus software needs to be updated often with the latest virus signature patches or else you won't be protected against the new viruses (virus? virii?) that come out. I used to post on OpieAnthony.com but I lost my bookmark and now I can't find the site.

Psychopath Registered: Nov. 00 | I have been using Norton since Windows 95 and I tried Mcaffee a couple of times on other machines and I truly think that Norton is better. There is no antivirus program that is going to detect every virus out there. There are too many. Just remember to update daily, do a full system scan once a week and you should be fine. Good luck.

Psychopath Registered: Sep. 00 | I have used both... Either one is fine but you have to make sure you check for new updates almost everyday with the frequency that virus's come out now. I have also used Ontrack.. I rank it up there with the other 2. Also a pretty good one is F-Prot F-prot is great because it's the easiest to use from DOS if you need to clean something out. Some virus won't leave even in safe mode. The Dos version of F-prot is completely free and fits on a couple of floppies. I listen to way too much WNEW during the day.

Psychopath Registered: Apr. 01 | The only McAfee was good for on my computer was frezzing it up and cuasing it to crash unexpectidly. When i finaly uninstalled it and got Norton (via morpheus) all my problems went away. Going with Norton is my 2 cents. Thanks for the pic, Sephiroth "Gimmy the bat, faggit" "I AM ZEROMUS. Hanger-On Registered: Jan. 02 | I would have to recommend Norton. I used to have McAfee but a few times that I updated the DAT files I would have system problems. My PC wouldn't boot up but get stuck at the C prompt. I would have to remove McAfee and then reinstall only to have it happen again down the road. Go Norton. "Spitters are Quitters."

Psychopath Registered: Jun. 01 | I'm not sure if McAfee has a live update feature like Norton does, but I never have to worry about my definitions being up to date. Norton checks every day via live update for me and downloads them automatically when you are online. DasDoomper

Psychopath Registered: Oct. 00 | Ok now that we know that norton is better... Is there anyway to (cough cough) get around the subscription? "Now the seasons over, and I feel it gettin' cold. Psychopath Registered: Sep. 00 | If you are using the new Norton's try changing the date then run the update. If you have an older version.. Download the current Def files. Roll back the clock a year then run the update it should work. I do that at work all the time to customer;s machine with no problems. I listen to way too much WNEW during the day.
